BOYNEXTDOOR “ANIMAL” MV Review
The first thing that hits you about ANIMAL (보이넥스트도어) is the energy: not a polished kind of energy or the carefully manufactured “effortlessly cool”, but the one that feels closer to boys being handed an increasingly energetic playground and deciding that the only reasonable response is to absolutely lose their minds in it.
The music video carries forward the strange, slightly absurd universe that BOYNEXTDOOR have been building throughout the HOME: DELUXE rollout. The ANIMAL MV takes the instinctive idea and gives it a louder and more physical form.
There is something wonderfully BOYNEXTDOOR about taking a concept that could very easily become overly serious or aggressively “dark” and instead allowing it to retain a sense of play. The song itself is rougher and more electronic than some of the group’s familiar youthful, rock-leaning material. The production comes at you with a deliberately restless pulse, while the repeated “Move like animal” hook functions as a push to stop worrying and just move.
When BOYNEXTDOOR Stops Trying To Look Cool
BOYNEXTDOOR have always worked particularly well when they are allowed to be a little awkward, a little ridiculous and a little too energetic for their own good. ANIMAL MV understands that their charm does not come from making them look perfect.
The choreography especially benefits from this approach: there is a physicality to the performance that matches the song’s central idea rather beautifully. It does not simply present the members as perfectly arranged bodies hitting marks; the movement feels restless and instinctive. There is an almost childish quality where you hear a beat you like, and suddenly your body has gained independence from the brain.

The Visuals Know Exactly How Weird This Is
The animal concept could have become literal quickly, but ANIMAL (보이넥스트도어) seems to have been more interested in the feeling of being animalistic than simply dressing the idols as wildlife and calling it a day.
The visual language moves between the ordinary and the strange, allowing the members to have spaces that feel recognisable while behaving as though normal human rules have quietly been suspended. There is something almost surreal about watching BOYNEXTDOOR tear through everyday environments with energy so high. It makes the familiar feel slightly off-kilter, which suits the song perfectly.
Each member brings their own flavour to the chaos rather than disappearing into one collective animal persona, which matters because ANIMAL could easily have become a concept-first MV where the gimmick engulfs the group but the personalities remain visible behind it.
It Is Deliberately Messy
The production is noisy; the hook is repetitive; the song is far less interested in easing the world than it is in throwing you directly into it. ANIMAL (보이넥스트도어) is loud, physical and high-energy; it wants you to stop analysing whether the beat behaves correctly and start moving your shoulders before you even realise.
BOYNEXTDOOR themselves have spoken about wanting listeners to put their heads down and simply feel the music rather than thinking deeply about it.
Final Thoughts
What makes ANIMAL (보이넥스트도어) interesting for me is that BOYNEXTDOOR have taken a concept that could have been reduced to aesthetics and actually built the song around the central idea to be instinctive, loud, move and not overthink, which is liberating.
Perhaps that is why the MV works better the less seriously you try to take it, and there is a carefully constructed concept behind everything. The visuals are deliberate; the choreography and production have been designed around the idea of instinct.
