Big Bet (카지노), formerly known as King Of Savvy, is an original Disney+ South Korean drama series directed by King Yoon-sung (known for helming The Outlaws (2017)), who is also stepping in as the screenwriter. The series stars Choi Min-sik as Cha Moo-sik, Lee Kyu-hyung as young Cha Moo-sik, Son Seok-koo (or Son Suk-ku) as Oh Seung-hoon and Lee Dong-hwi as Jeong-pal in the lead roles.
Premiering on February 15, 2023, Big Bet Season 2 episode 1 titled “Mortal Enemies” has a runtime of 63 minutes with a synopsis that reads, “Seo Tae-seok attempts to shoot Moo-sik. He leaves the Philippines.” The series has been restricted to adult audiences.

The first scene of the second season picks up from the last scene of the former instalment with Tae-seok intimidating Moo-sik, but it backfires as he’s threatened by the senior to leave the Philippines. With all his efforts going down the drain, Tae-seok realises that he can’t beat Moo-sik at this game, but still holds on to the grudge.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jo aka Yoon-gi is still processing the turn of events and reveals all about Moo-sik’s twisted and shallow threats to his family to Sung-il. He then reaches out to his old friend and advises him to resolve the issue with Yoon-gi since it’ll do him no good to be in the bad books of the government. Additionally, he enlists his help to get rid of the Chinese gangs endangering his business at Purvio Casino. Jung-pal overhears it all and helps him reach out to Tae-seok, who can act as the Casino’s shield and help Sung-il out in this mess.
Things are looking dire for the Korean community in he Philippines as Young-hee’s (restaurant owner) partner is taken into custody after the police discovered drugs at their location. Young-hee feels as if the police force is exploiting them all and planting the drugs on purpose. She starts suspecting Seung-hoon to be in on this mission too, and distances herself from him. Once he starts to dig further and speak for her case, Mark guides him to sort out his priorities and stop trusting people just because they’re fellow Koreans. Tensions rise high between the two as their arguments know no end.
Jung-gu, the supposed Korean community’s chief also questions Seung-hoon on the matter, but lays his doubts to rest after talking it out with him. Yoon-gi, however, can’t get over the threats laid out by Moo-sik against his family and bursts out in front of the two, and even threatens to deport the casino in-charge in the heat of the moment. Respecting Sung-il, a common thread between him and Moo-sik, the two heated parties meet to seemingly resolve the issue. Beginning with pretences for the look of it, the meeting ends on a bad note as was expected.
Sang-gu targets Tae-seok as he’s still stuck at the same residence despite Moo-sik’s warnings. Young-hee’s doubts about Moo-sik are on the rise too. She thinks that he’s only good for the books, but is actually the one responsible for all of these problems colliding against their backs.
As per their former meeting, Tae-seok gets down on his knees and begs Sung-il to take him under his wing, but the latter fears Moo-sik as well. Ms Ko drops by at his casino at the same time and takes notice of Tae-seok. He’s finally welcomed back to the old casino – Purvio, where he forms a short-lived, unlikely alliance with Ms. Ko who ropes him in to pursue evidence against Moo-sik in order to prove his crimes, especially since she’s still counting on her victory funds from the last game at the Bolton to turn up in her possession.

Big Bet Season 2 Episode 1 Ending
All pandemonium breaks loose when Tae-seok gets involved in a fight with the Chinese junket at the Bolton. Moo-sik tries to diffuse the situation, while the entire casino is evacuated. The shootout ensues, and soon the CIDG squad enters the venue, handcuffs Tae-seok and arrests the Chinese gang members as well.
Seung-hoon is left out of the mess again and arrives late. During the car ride, Tae-seok runs his mouth over and spills that their higher-ups within the government are all being held in place by the bribes offloaded by Moo-sik. At the same time, Mark receives direct orders from the Captain to change course and deliver Tae-seok to Moo-sik instead.
Moo-sik’s true face is finally revealed to Seung-hoon as he buys out Mark in exchange for Tae-seok. He attempts to put the same deal across to Seung-hoon as well, who’s shaken in disbelief. Cards are finally out in the open between him and Mark, leaving him speechless and questioning his purpose and limiting role in this whole scenario. Back at the open field, a dark end lays ahead for Tae-seok, with the episode ending through his echoing screeches for mercy.
Big Bet Season 2 Episode 1 Review
Everyone has an ego problem in this series, and that’s exactly what each of their fatal flaw is, which ultimately drags them down but is somehow their strength as well. While Seung-hoon takes pride in his position as a police officer meant to right the wrongs, he goes too far in believing that things will churn out an ideal outcome as per his desire just because he’s doing his job while keeping his moral code intact. The first episode of the second season, or if taken in continuation, the overall 9th episode of the entire series bursts his bubble, proving that one’s intentions aren’t enough to get to the final line.
On the other hand, this nature of his is starkly contrasted by Moo-sik’s abilities to buy out everything and everyone standing in his path. His character is so far gone and morally flawed to the core after having living through a life of meagre resources, which has led him to swear his sole allegiance with money and nothing more.
The first episode of the season has kicked off with an action-paced, switching its path from the rather mellowed out first season that sought to establish the premise of the storyline. Confrontations are quite upfront and direct now, with both opposite ends of the scale colliding with each other and and making way for tense politics to shape the journey ahead.
