Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 Overview

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 Title

Battle Game in 5 Seconds is a Death Game style anime produced by Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions in collaboration with Studio A-CAT. Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions is known for producing several well-known anime series of the past, such as Monster and Pokemon, to name a few. On the other hand, Studio A-CAT is mostly an unproven commodity. The series is based upon a web manga written by Saizou Harawata.

The series is known by multiple names, some of them being- Battle in 5 Seconds After MeetingDea5, and Deatte 5-byou de Battle in original Japanese. If you want to catch up on our previous reviews of the series, you can do so by clicking here. This episode is thus also known as Deatte 5-byou de Battle Episode 8.

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 Review: Plot and Characters!

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 plot

Battle Game in 5 Seconds has this innate ability to make people care about its plot and universe. The anime is well aware that it doesn’t have the best production or the most promotion, but it doesn’t care. It is like the writers and showrunners just decided to make everything that could work, work splendidly. This is a show that shines because of how it overcomes its flaws.

A lot of it is due to its characters who display something raw about them, which is a very anime quality. You can take one look at a character and tell what their motivations are, and that’s a good thing! It is good to watch simple characters with simple motivations sometimes. It’s a good refresher from the Attack of Titans of the world!

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 Team Blue

It is good that Yuuri is so plain and sweet. It is even better that Akira is a total sociopath who will win at whatever cost while staying in the good team, and it is great that the show didn’t complicate things by giving the bad guys a sob story to hide their filthy actions behind. Sometimes, bad guys should just be bad guys who get their asses whooped by the heroes. You hear me, Demon Slayer fans? I don’t want all bad guys to have a reason to be bad. Sometimes, people just suck, and that’s okay!

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 was a tremendous episode because it was realistic while being fantastical. The characters’ actions made sense based on what we had seen of them, and they all have tangible goals that they can feasibly achieve. Akira and Yuuri, alongside Tatara, hold power to turn the tide in favour of Team Green, but the show hasn’t shied away from bloodshed yet, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping now. Fasten your seatbelts, folks, because this is going to be fun!

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 Review- Art and Music

I didn’t mind the animation at all this episode. There were times that I could notice some weird frames and characters, but they didn’t stick out much. Whenever the show animates a battle, it is painfully obvious that the art team’s limits are being stretched to an extreme. It is unfortunate because a show named Battle Game in 5 Seconds is bound to have many battles. Still, we make do with what we have here!

The music was great, for once. It felt for a while that the showrunners spent all of their money on the opening and ending themes and forgot to get good music. It’s great to see evidence on the contrary! I’m curious to see what the sound designers come up with for the battle scene that is about to come up. Probably something great, by the sounds of it!

Verdict

Battle Game in 5 Seconds Episode 8 told a great story while keeping things simple, and I appreciated the effort put forth by the team behind it. The plot and characters remain the best part of the show and make me tune in every week to find out what happens next! Simple is good, folks!
