Batgirl: Set Pics Tease Robin and Black Canary Connection to the Movie

DC’s upcoming Batgirl movie, directed by Ms. Marvel’s Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have fans excited about how the iconic character of DC’s Wonder Girl would turn out to be. With a screenplay from  Christina Hodson, known for her work in films like Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), and the upcoming The Flash movie, the film stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl alongside J. K. Simmons and Brendan Fraser. This film will also see the return of Michael Keaton’s iconic Batman.

While the filming for this 2022 DCEU film continues, pictures have surfaced from the set teasing the potential presence of two other memorable characters from the DC Universe- Robin, Batman’s junior counterpart-sidekick and, Black Canary, the founding member of the Birds of Prey and one of Batgirl’s closest friends. Let us have a look at the interesting pictures.

Batgirl Set Pictures ft., Robin & Black Canary

A mural of both Batman and Robin has been put up for the film. Given that the film is acknowledging Robin’s presence is rather interesting given his banter and romantic inclination towards Barbara aka Batgirl time and again. It is still unclear if the character of Robin will play a major role in the film or not, but, we can only expect it to make a difference only for the betterment of the film.

As for Black Canary, a new set picture shows a poster advertising a live musical performance from the iconic Black Canary alongside a second set picture that can be termed as a poster for the DC superheroine, just like Robin’s mural. The short hair along with a domino mask further proves our speculations.

Again, there is no confirmation if there is going to be a meeting between Batgirl and Black Canary (played by Jurnee Smollett) in the upcoming film. But, given their friendship and role is being the founding members of Birds of Prey, it would be interesting to have a Black Canary tease for the film.

The film is scheduled to be released on HBO Max in 2022.
