Back in the Groove Episode 1 and 2 revolves around three women in their forties looking for a perfect young match on a Dominican Republic Island. The series is created by Michael Krupat and features Stepahine Michaels, Sparkle Hyche, and Brooke Mora as the leading figures of the groove.
The complete cast of the show includes Taye Diggs as the host, Pedro Salamanca as Pedro the Concierge, Tashi Thukhotsong, Mike Cerroni, and Quentin Llyod as the contestant. Furthermore, the average runtime of each episode is 50-55 minutes.
-Back in the Groove Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-
Back in the Groove Episode 1 starts with the introduction of the three ladies of the groove hotel (Steph, Sparkle and Brooke), who are trying to rediscover their youth in this sassy reality show. Furthermore, the entire intro montage of the ladies, the concierge and the contestants is as cliche as it gets, and gives you a little heads-up about the upcoming trajectory.
The host of the show, Taye Diggs, helps us further to understand the simple concept of the series. He explains, that the entire setup will revolve around the ladies of the house, who have the opportunity to choose the partner of their choice, from a group of 24 young hot men (those are the exact adjectives used by Taye).
Each night, some of those guys will get eliminated, until we are left with the best of the lot. Moreover, the three ladies, who make us abundantly clear about their preference for younger men (believe me, more than clear), basically rule the groove with their particular demands and look forward to making a genuine connection.
I can describe this eight-episode series as another dumb-down version of Island-based reality shows, made for a particular set of audience. And to be more specific, Back in the Groove simply rides on a wave of cliches, involving shirtless men eating grapes and other citrus fruits, to invoke a certain sense of sexual innuendo.

In the process of vibing with the general target groups, the show falls completely flat and doesn’t have a single moment of originality. Even though it’s a reality show, I can almost predict the upcoming events, and that too without much difficulty.
I guess the sharp transitions and funky music does make up for the unbearable watch but fail to cover up the mammoth-like flaws. Like why does everyone needs to act over the top, to dumb it down for the viewer? Seriously, even Pedro the concierge is a full-on method actor, and perhaps the only one who tries to make an impact.
Back in the Groove Episode 1-2 Final thoughts

The show lacks the basic elements of making sense and feels like the exact representation of the futile content. And for some reason, this is the only kind of stuff that gets made now, instead of original movies and TV shows.
You can stream the episodes on Hulu. Let us know your thoughts about it in the comment section below.
