Back in the Groove Episode 7-8 Review: End of a Nightmare

Back in the Groove Episode 7 and 8 finally wraps up the season and end after the leading trio of ladies find their perfect connection. In retrospect, the show had a total of eight episodes with an average runtime of one hour each, hosted by Taye Diggs. Moreover, it starred Stepahine Michaels, Sparkle Hyche, and Brooke Mora as the prime guests of the Groove hotel.

The complete cast of the reality show includes Pedro Salamanca as Pedro the Concierge, Tashi Thukhotsong, Mike Cerroni, Quentin Llyod, LeRoy and others. Furthermore, it is created by Michael Krupat.

Resuming with the stupid tradition, the new instalment of the show starts with a montage involving the origin story of Pedro the concierge, which reveals the main reason behind his professional choice. He states (if you can believe it) that his mother lost her groove when he was a child, and told him to live without a Groove is to not live at all.

Just when you think the connection-based show cannot stoop any lower, it presents a parodical Shakespearean quote, to indicate the enigma of Steph, Brooke and Sparkle’s dating life. It also tries to make us emotional with the vacant Groove hotel and ends up creating more cringe of shirtless guys.

The first one to supposedly finds her groove turns out to be Brooke. Who, for the most part, was falling for Cru, and finally decided to give him a chance. She believes that Brooke and Cru might really work out, as the latter has matured in his presence. (Whatever the case may be, I really don’t like the sound of Brooke and Cru).

The next in lines are Sparkle and Steph, who decide to trust their gut feelings, over some random thought (as if they were doing the exact opposite in the show). Sparkle takes a step ahead with Steven, while Steph reconsiders her relationship idea with LeRoy.

What happens next, is an extended and repeated farewell scene, that makes only Pedro (and only him) emotional. The cringefest finishes and makes a last futile attempt to involve us with the senseless drama. In fact, I was counting the last few seconds to make sure it will end eventually.

It has been a custom of the show to outplay its cringe card, nearly every time and in each episode. Moreover, Back in the Groove Episode 8 makes no exception, and creates one such moment, when Pedro interacts with Sparkle through telepathy and forces her to kiss Steven. Believe me, I have seen some weird crap, and this was really on top of that list.

If you have successfully evaded this cringe expression, disguised in the form of a reality show, then continue to follow that same pattern. It will definitely do you good.
