Babylon Featurette: Damien Chazelle Reincarnates the Wildest Version of Hollywood

The latest featurette of the upcoming historical drama film Babylon, introduces us to the crazy world of early Hollywood, from the lens of Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle. The film stars Brad Pitt (Fight Club, Seven) in a prominent role and revolves around the inception of the western movie industry.

The complete cast of the film includes Margot Robbie as Nellie LaRoy, Tobey Maguire as James Mckay, Jean Smart as Elinor St John, Samara Weaving, Max Minghella, Olivia Wilde, Eric Roberts, Katherine Waterston, Phoebe Tonkin, Lukas Haas, Spike Jonze, Jeff Garlin and Chloe Fineman. Notably, the film is written by Chazelle and edited by Tom Cross.

The featurette starts with the critically acclaimed director dissecting the thought process behind the making of the film, and the initial idea for the movie. We are given a basic idea about the chain of events, and the magnitude of the production, along with the core theme of the flick. Moreover, Chazelle also states that it’s the biggest project that he has ever worked on after La La Land and First Man.

The two-minute and thirteen seconds clip then moves on to the cast members, Margot Robbie, and Diego Calva, defining their aspects of Babylon. The former explains her role in the film, which is basically of a newcomer actress, who gets tangled in the most exotic elements of the industry. While the latter is our guide through the feature, who experiences the entire drama from an outsider’s perspective.

The historical flick will also feature Brad Pitt in the role of a successful actor, with a creative yet eccentric vision. The Oscar-winning actor appears to add comic relief in the film, with his usual larger-than-life persona. Moreover, the project will also mark his first collaboration with Damien Chazelle who was last seen in the action drama Bullet Train, which fared well at the domestic box office.

The highly anticipated film will also feature Toby Maguire (Pawn Sacrifice, The Great Gatsby) in a convincingly dark role, that has made quite a buzz on the internet. The fan-favourite star was last seen in the Marvel blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed more than 1.9 Billion worldwide.
