Premiering on January 30, 2023, NCT 127’s latest repackaged comeback has now led to the momentous day of Ay-Yo first win at this week’s Show Champion. This also marks the SM Entertainment K-pop boy group’s overall 29th win, and the fans are making the most of it by commending the music act consisting of 9 members for yet another musical hit.
The group came out with its eponymous 4th repackage album following the release of 2 Baddies on the penultimate day of January. With 15 songs on the tracklist – Ay-Yo, Faster, 질주 (2 Baddies), Time Lapse, DJ, 불시착 (Crash Landing), Designer, 윤슬 (Gold Dust), 흑백 영화 (Black Clouds), Playback, Skyscraper (摩天樓; 마천루), Tasty (貘), Vitamin, LOL (Laugh-Out-Loud), and 1, 2, 7 (Time Stops), members Taeyong (leader), Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark and Haechan have now listed a much-deserved victory for this masterpiece under their belt.

Although the title track received varied responses from the fans due to its rather slowed-down and calm demeanour as opposed to the group’s usual choice of bombastic industrial titular tunes, it eventually grew on the audience with every listen. Its melody throws it back it to some of the previous music releases of the K-pop act like Limitless and Punch, which again drew in a lot of casual listeners, who eventually became a loyal counterpart of their fanbase.
The group bagged the trophy at Show Champion, which is a South Korean music television program broadcasted by MBC M, and this time, NCT’s Seoul-based sub-unit garnered a post in the top 5 comebacks of the week alongside NewJeans’ Ditto, OMG, VIVIZ’s Pull Up, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Sugar Rush Ride. In the end, NCT 127 topped the ranking with Ay-Yo being announced as the ‘week’s champion song’.
NCT 127 have already won trophies for several other leading tracks over the years starting from Cherry Bomb, Touch, Superhuman, Regular, Kick It, Punch, Sticker, Favourite and 2 Baddies. With this particular triumph, they’ve added yet another diverse win to their career, further consolidating their mark in the K-pop industry as a musical beast.
