Best Friend Ever Music Video: NCT Dream Forge an Unbreakable Bond that Keeps You Smiling Till the End

NCT Dream’s Best Friend Ever is so catchy that even a dinosaur busts out a move to groove along to the melody high on synth bass and its upbeat vitamin-like energy. Making way for the debut Japanese single album featuring 7Dream members aka Mark (leader), Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle and Jisung, a celebratory bash has erupted among the fans of the group commonly known as NCTzens or Dreamzens.

Having debuted as the third sub-unit of the Neo Culture Technology brand under SM Entertainment in 2016, this South Korean boy group has seen it all. From fears of nearly being disbanded as per their original system of ‘graduation’ which required the members to leave each other’s side upon hitting their major adolescent years, to finally being rebranded as a fixed sub-unit of the grand scale K-pop act, the septet has gained a strong footing in the music space.

They’ve released several other songs taking the same idea, and the years worth of experience as inspiration for the same. Tracks like Puzzle Piece, My Youth, Rainbow, Never Goodbye and Graduation have spelled out the strength they’ve needed to overcome a challenging phase during their career’s trajectory, both as team mates and artists. After having spent all these years together and seen each other grow into the adults they are today, they’ve firmly set their group’s identity in place as a second family of friends, which has struck a strong chord with their fans as well and made it possible for them to stay as one.

This sense of familiarity permeates this latest musical drop, wherein, the members once again express the ease of overcoming any challenge as long as they have someone by their side. One can interpret this as a message meant to flesh out their own relationship with each other, in addition to it being a heartfelt and thankful gesture being conveyed to their fans who’ve symbiotically contributed to their global success and representation.

As far as the MV’s visuals take us, it can be accepted as a long stretched out dream visiting the members in their sleep, as they all step into a galactic imagination, where the major dance choreography pans out ultimately. The song greatly speaks of the grey relatability shared between each of our experiences as we follow the same 7-day routine. However, living through the same journey encompassing emotions like joy, sadness, happiness, etc becomes a bit easier to tackle if you have someone else beside you to share it with.

While we may be racing towards more materialist gains in our daily schedules of commotion, the most important things are always right by our side. All we need to do is take a look around. The hallucinatory vibrant polychromatic alien settings of the video will emerge as a familiar sight to the old fans of the boy band, who’ve already witnessed something along the same line in other MVs like Chewing Gum, We Young and Hello Future.

Even though the video may pop off as a series of psychedelic seeings, the unbreakable bond shared between the members of 7Dream, and the one they extend towards their fans are unfathomably palpable as ever.
