Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: Jason Momoa Embodies Power on the Throne of Atlantis

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which intends to be a sequel to the 2018 Aquaman movie have had fans on the loop of excitement for quite some time now. From the upgrade to dark and golden palette suit to the introduction of new characters, the upcoming DC film based on the comic character of the same name is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Directed by James Wan, the screenplay of the film is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

The ensemble cast stars Jason Momoa in the titular role along with actors Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman. The second film in the Aquaman franchise is going to focus on how our central character, the King of Atlantis will forge an unlikely alliance with an unexpected character. As the title reads, the film will focus on the Lost Kingdom which was mentioned in the first movie but, has not been explored further. We will see Arthur aka Aquaman seek out the Lost Kingdom which might serve as an invitation to a new set of antagonists to set foot in the DC Universe.

For a while, there has not been any official update on the film yet and, the behind-the-set pictures have been serving as the elixir to fans’ curiosity. However, with the release of the DC Films sizzle reel on February 11, 2022, fans finally got a sensational sneak peek about the King of Atlantis. The teaser included brief looks at DC’s much talked about upcoming films including The Batman, Black Adam, and The Flash. Yet it was the footage depicting a scene of Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry aka Aquaman sitting on the throne of Atlantis that sent fans on a joyride.

One of the fans even stated how accurate the footage as well as the costume looks in regards to the original comics.

Aquaman 2 is set to arrive in theatres on December 16, 2022. Meanwhile, you can watch the 2018 film Aquaman now on Amazon Prime Video.
