Alchemy of Souls (환혼) is a 2022 Korean fantasy drama which is set in the imaginary world of Daeho. The story revolves around young magicians who are to carry the burden of the past. Starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min and Hwang Min-hyun, the show premiered on tvN on Jun 18, 2022. The show will have 20 episodes and it takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Our Blues. Alchemy of Souls episode 15 has a runtime of 68 minutes.

The reason behind master Lee being a soul shifter turns out to be the fault of his pupil Heo Yeom in Alchemy of Souls episode 15. Thinking that his master had passed away, Heo Yeom cremated his body. Back in the present, master Lee is ready to search for the soul shifter in the palace.
Back in the inn, So Yi is accompanied by Yeom Soo who kills the people who were behind her for their money. While they are leaving, the broker from Sari village recognises So Yi and is killed because of this. As the two leave the inn, Mu-deok enters and spots Jin Cho-yeon who is buying tickets for a magic show. Mu-deok soon leaves while Jin Cho-yeon hides after seeing Park Jin enter.

He then goes to find the broker only to find him dead and Mu-deok next to him. They then hear a scream and rush there to find more bodies in another room. The inn owner tells him that they are a group of thugs who were looking for a swindler from Sari village which makes Park Jin think that Mu-deok is behind the death of all these people.
Mu-deok took the opportunity to run away as she contemplates the life of the real Mu-deok. She looks for Joo Wol and asks about the woman who came to look for her thinking that it must be So Yi. Jo Wol tells her that the guards that day must have seen her and the two g to find the guards as they did not come to work.
Elsewhere, So Yi and Yeom Soo have found the guards and the latter runs behind one of the guards. So Yi takes this chance to ask about Mu-deok and learns that she can see and is a maid at the Jang’s household.
At the Jang household, Park Jin tells Kim Do-ju about Mu-deok’s involvement in the murders and tells her to be careful. While Mu-deok and Joo Wol reach the place where the guards live only to find them dead.

In the palace, master Lee tells the King that he recognises soul shifters by instilling fear into them. He then tells the King that he has brought a dog as a gift for him, sending Jang Uk to fetch the dog. He leaves to get the dog while a maid of the queen rushes to Jin Mu.
Master Lee tells the King that the dog is none other than Gwigu who can easily identify soul shifters. They soon hear Gwigu barking which scares the queen and demands for the dog to be sent away. Jin Mu too soon reaches the palace and blocks Jang Uk’s entry outside the hall and enters to meet the king.
After a small exchange, the king stops the fighting and asks for master Lee to return with Gwigu. Before leaving he tells the king about the existence of the ice stone and that there will be someone with the energy of the King’s star who will save them all from its powers. Coming out, master Lee tells Jang Uk that he has identified the people that he needed to identify and leaves to go to the crown prince who has requested his presence. In Cheonbugwan, Jin Mu is angered because he wasn’t told about the visit earlier.
The crown prince talks about Naksu and the rumours surrounding her. Elsewhere, Mu-deok sneaks into the Jang household and asks Kim Do-ju to take her to Jinyowon as Jin Cho-yeon had seen her when the murder happened. Outside the house, So Yi runs into her but because Mu-deok can’t recognise her she is saved.
Back in the palace, the talks about Naksu continue and the crown prince comments that people are foolish to think of Naksu as their saviour. However, Jang Uk contradicts him by saying that it is the fear of the power that has made the people think of Naksu this way, and calling it foolish is his negligence.

Mu-deok reaches Jinyowon and asks Jin Cho-yeon to help her prove her innocence to Park Jin. She rejects her request but Mu-deok tells her that she will reveal the truth about the jade to her mother. Jin Cho-yeon stops her and takes her to Jin Bu-yeon’s room to hide. However, Jin Ho-kyung makes her way to the room and is shocked to see Mu-deok with the blindfold.
She slaps Mu-deok and tells her to get out, and on the way, Jin Cho-yeon promises Mu-deok to help her out. In Cheonbugwan, Jin Mu introduces So Yi to Jin Woo-tak who is the father of Jin Bu-yeon but not the biological father. He then puts the blood-sucking worm that was inside Jin Cho-yeon into her body so that she will be able to open the door.
Alchemy of Souls Episode 15 Ending
Mu-deok is then stopped by Sang Ho who takes her to Songrim, Jang Uk is also taken there and kept in the secret room. Jin Cho-yeon gives her statement proving that Mu-deok is not involved in the murder. A new name pops up and it is none other than So Yi. However, Park Jin doesn’t let them go yet and questions the two separately.
He tries to trick them to get their secret out but the two escape by giving the same answer. They had both shown their jade and told Park Jin that they love each other. Upon meeting they know what they have said, but Mu-deok orders him that if a life and death situation were to ever occur then he should let go of love.
However, Jang Uk doesn’t agree with it and tells her that he will keep his word of loving her and she too should keep her word of loving him to death.

Alchemy of Souls Episode 15 Review
Another informative episode of Alchemy of Souls reveals more secrets that are hidden among the characters. To think that master Lee would become a soul shifter due to his pupil Heo Yeom and we can now understand why he keeps calling him stupid. That incident must have really made him mad.
We see a little friction between the crown prince and Jang Uk today, but we also see master Lee pointing out that the one born with the energy of the King’s star did not become the king last time. Is this a clue to the fate of Jang Uk and the crown prince? I hope so because even though the crown prince can be a little slow at times, he has shown the characteristics of a good ruler.
Another secret came out today, and to think that Jin Bu-yeon is the daughter of Jin Ho-kyung and someone else. Maybe her long period of pregnancy must have something to do with Jin Bu-yeon’s real father, but who is he? Does Jang Kang know about this, because there’s a feeling that he knows who it is?
To add, the way Mu-deok felt in that room is another proof that the real Mu-deok is alive and she must have almost taken over the body. I mean, why else would Mu-deok put on the blindfold?
And lastly, the love confessions and promises keep appearing and this ship is making me sad because of the words that they keep using. There are definitely some big trials coming ahead of them and we are going to be witnessing some heartbreaking moments too.
