Yes, yes and yes! The Glee reboot was officially announced on October 21, 2026, with an Instagram post on Glee’s Instagram page that goes by the username @gleeofficial. The show’s official Instagram handle marked the news with the message, “Currently gleeking out!” alongside the announcement confirming that Glee is returning: “It’s official”.
It appears to be a fairly fitting way to bring back a series that made being a Gleek an entire personality for a generation of viewers. The distinction worth making is that this is an official series order and not just a wish that Ryan Murphy might want to revisit the show someday. There is an official reboot in the pipeline.
When Will Glee Reboot Release?
There is no confirmed release date announced for the Glee reboot at the time of writing this. The October 21 announcement confirms the series order but does not specify when the new episodes would premiere. There appears to be no publicly confirmed production schedule that would allow us to estimate a release window.

The original cast list includes Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Jane Lynch, Dianna Agron, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Chord Overstreet, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, among others.
Lee Michele is reportedly returning as Rachel Berry, and X (Formerly Twitter) seems to have different opinions about the actor coming back.
The official synopsis of the reboot has also not been released yet. Thus, there seems to be no confirmed information about whether the show would now follow the original cast as adults, introduce a new ensemble, or have a story with a mixture of both.
A Quick Look Back at the OG Glee
For the freshers here, before the new season arrives, the original Glee premiered in 2009 and ended in 2015 with six seasons spanning over 121 episodes. Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, the series centred around the New Directions at the William McKinley High School. Matthew Morrison played the teacher, Will Schuester, leading the club, while Jane Lynch played Sue Sylvester, the cheerleading coach who seemingly made the group’s existence difficult.
