9-1-1 Season 10 Episode 1 Review on X: 9-1-1 has returned with its tenth season with a premiere episode that apparently brought back the show’s signature brand of ER-adjacent anxiety, high-stakes rescue and personal drama.
X (formerly Twitter) naturally has a lot to say about the series that turned 10 seasons with the new premiere episode. While the reactions range from genuine excitement about the new season to concerns about how quickly the emotional drama escalates, one thing which seems rather clear is that 9-1-1 fandom is back on the board!
9-1-1 Season 10 Episode 1 Review on X: A Solid Premiere
First things first, according to user @TVLine, the premiere features a sinkhole-turned-volcano, alongside a twisted case for Detective Grant, writing, “9-1-1 returned for Season 10 with a sinkhole-turned-volcano, a twisted case for Detective Grant, and an adorable wedge being driven between Buck and Eddie.”
Another user, @lesbianoflight, who started the season a little late, called the episode a “pretty good premiere”, highlighting, “loved the may & athena scene & felt like the action sequences were decently engaging & inventive. nothing amazing, but a solid start for s10”.
In another post, the same user wrote, “the setup for this buddie angst is so scrumptious… & eddie’s temper & struggles with communication ugh the miscommunication is gonna be DELECTABLE”. Buddie dynamic has been highlighted by more users with similar enthusiasm.
Another user @hvnterbvck seemed particularly pleased, writing that they genuinely had nothing bad ot critical for the episode and that it reminded them of the earlier seasons of the show itself. For a series that has spent years, and 9 seasons, putting its characters through increasingly dramatic situations, that kind of familiarity looks perhaps like a compliment itself.
Meanwhile, @gethimbuck had a different problem altogether: the stream was apparently LAGGING! However, even in the annoyance, they felt that the episode was good, writing, “the streams lagging pissed me off like crazy but from what i did see this episode was so good i’m so excited for the rest of this season 9-1-1 i love you.” The user went to put multiple posts highlighting different aspects on their X handle.
Not Everyone Is Celebrating The Same Thing
While much of the conversation on X is enthusiastic, not every reaction has been positive, and some of the criticisms go beyond whether a storyline is moving fast. User @CHECOISALEGEND described the premiere as solid but raised concerns about Buck’s storyline, writing, “Still not a fan of Buck’s sl and I do noooooot like the way people are celebrating interpreting something as a racial stereotype and romanticising domestic violence. Just vile.”
The reaction is particularly interesting as it does express the excitement, without completely agreeing on how the show is carrying the storyline and whether it is handling the developments well.
The Fandom Is Back
For a few viewers, returning to 9-1-1 after the Season 9 finale was an experience in itself. User @djappellroan compared sitting down to watch the new episode after the long break to “seeing an ex”, writing, “genuinely i hadnt watched 9-1-1 since s9 finale it felt so weird to sit down and watch it after so longiskdsk it felt like i was like seeing an ex”.
Another user @bucksbadchoices’ Season 10 checklist included “everyone serving face, outfits on fire, each scene more anxiety-inducing than the last, unable to contain excitement for next episode”.
The premiere seems to have given different parts of the fandom different things to get hooked on. While some seem to be enjoying the return of the show’s earlier-season feel, some celebrate the moments.
X Verdict
The Season 10 premiere sounds like a solid return of the drama series. There seems to be plenty that is keeping X talking and discussing the series as fans welcome the tenth season of the series. However, the bigger question is whether the personal drama will give the characters enough space to breathe. The criticism surrounding the handling of certain storylines also deserves consideration rather than simply dismissing it as a fandom drama.

The premiere has nevertheless made sure that Season 10 has everyone’s attention, and X has already started analysing every conversation like the season finale might depend on it. Actually, what if…?
