Bigg Boss 20 Episode 40 made captaincy task a rather different kind of game; choosing the new house captain by the process of eliminating the housemates that the earlier captains felt were undeserving. Nevertheless, Episode 40 had the house settling down after the previous fight, only for it to find new reasons for verbal clashes.
The Bigg Boss 20 house seems to have finally caught its breath after the entire physical fight fiasco. The atmosphere in the house has turned relatively normal again, but in terms of Bigg Boss, a clash is always necessary. Captaincy task of the week came with a twist: another Mahhi-Yung confrontation, a little more context about Nakul-Gullu’s coldness, and an unexpectedly emotional moment between Arishfa Khan and Qazi Touqeer.
Bigg Boss 20 Episode 40: Ex-Captains Choose New Captain
Bigg Boss called the former captains one by one to the 2X room through the X door and asked each of them to name two contestants they did not want to see as the captain. The process was rather different, as this time this was the real captaincy task, and a captain was selected based on the one left after the ex-captains had eliminated their disliked housemates. Manish Goel did not participate in the nomination process though he was allowed to nominate people this week which according to Bigg Boss was a safe play; thus, he was not included in the process, stripping his chance to be the captain.
Naturally, the former captains had decisions to make and given that it involved housemates, personal equations influencing the choices were, of course, a part. The process unfolded in the following manner:
- Aasif Khan voted against Love Gill and Aman Gandhi
- Uditi Singh voted against Mary Kom and Kanika Mann
- Gullu voted against Amrapali Dubey and Arishfa Khan
- Yung DSA voted against Mahhi Vij and Qazi Touqeer
There is a catch here! It was Love Gill who helped Aasif Khan become the captain; the circumstances were a little different, though.
With the process done, ScoutOP emerged as the new captain of the Bigg Boss house.
Mahhi Vij vs Yung DSA
Mahhi Vij and Yung DSA got into a verbal confrontation after the latter voted against Mahhi, removing her from the race to captaincy. Mahhi was clearly uninterested in accepting Yung’s assessment, and she hit back. Things quickly turned into another argument between the two.
Mahhi Vij brought up Yung’s equation with Nakul Dhull, alleging that he acted like Nakul’s “towel man” while the latter was in the house, which Yung refused to accept. Just like that, a captaincy task developed into a verbal spat in no time.
Context of Rivalry and Qazi’s Break Years
When asked about the context, ScoutOP told Mahhi Vij about the tensions between Nakul Dhull and Gullu. According to Scout, the coldness between the two was connected to the Elvish Yadav-Prince Narula rivalry from the past. Gullu was also seen discussing the matter with Qazi, mentioning his closeness to Elvish Yadav.
Away from all the drama, Qazi Touqeer spoke to Amrapali Dubey about his professional life and his break from the mainstream industry. Qazi mentioned his singing reality show journey (Fame Gurukul, in which he was the winner) and the song Afghan Jalebi, in which the artist appeared, did well, and he received a positive response. He also mentioned signing a film that ultimately did not release. Qazi also recalled being briefed by Ekta Kapoor about a particular project/opportunity, and how he, as a young boy, did not understand things and was fascinated by her rings. He said he had spoken to “Anupama” about the situation, and she told him that he could simply refuse if he was not comfortable proceeding.
However, according to Qazi, the headlines the following day reportedly claimed that he had “ditched” Ekta Kapoor.
Arishfa Khan Breaks Down While Talking to Qazi Touqeer
The episode brought a softer moment when Qazi Touqeer sat with Arishfa Khan, Aman Gandhi and Uditi Singh in the garden area. During their conversation, Arishfa Khan admitted that she missed Qazi and became emotional, eventually breaking into tears. Qazi responded by hugging her affectionately, offering her comfort as she was riding on emotions.
Reality television often puts its contestants in a situation where every interaction can become a part of the larger gameplay, but rarely appear moments like these that stand out. Particularly when someone lets their guard down without turning the exchange into confrontation.
Bigg Boss Season 20 Episode 40: New Captain, Old Tensions, Little Emotional Honesty
Episode 40 of Bigg Boss 20 was like a “Navratan mixture” with familiar ingredients: captaincy politics, arguments that stay in the territory of the original matter, contexts being given, and personal stories emerging out of the blue.
ScoutOP became the new captain of the Bigg Boss house, while Mahhi and Yung’s clash ensured that the house did not remain fully peaceful; Scout’s brief “gist” of Nakul-Gullu tension added context to the entire fiasco, and Qazi sharing his life experience brought a lived experience. Then came Arishfa’s emotional moment with Qazi, which provided a change of pace and mood.
With ScoutOP now holding the captaincy, the next question is how the house will respond to his captaincy and given the contestants have already expressed their opinions about each other, maintaining order might prove more difficult than just winning the captaincy.
