Daemons of the Shadow Realm Episode 7 Review
What happened when Yuru was first attacked?
Yuru discloses that the first time he was ever attacked and felt a strong killing intent towards him was from a bandit when he was young. He had no idea why someone would try to kill him, and he was saved by his father, who came just at the right moment to kill the bandit. He also instructed Yuru not to tell the villagers about this attack. Weirdly enough, everyone asks them why they did not show up and if anything had happened to them. Yuru’s father only said that nothing had happened.
How was the family before they left Yuru behind?

The family was happy together in the past. Both Yuru’s parents loved their children equally. However, there was something within the village that made them leave Yuru behind and take Asa as soon as possible. We also see Yuru’s father telling something to his wife, which made her visibly shake out of fear. The siblings did not realise what that was. Apparently, shortly after that, both Yuru’s father and mother left the village with Asa.
How was Asa assassinated?
Asa disclosed that when her parents left the village, they were pursued, and they tried to stay hidden. That is when the Koagemori clan took them in. Last year, when Asa was 15, she was captured by an assassin. Here, she was killed and gained the power of “break.” According to her, it is the power of a daemon that lives on the boundary between the land of the dead and the normal world. The daemon then asked Asa what she wanted and gave her two paths to choose from.

What was the path that Asa chose?
She was given 2 choices: either she would have to stay dead, or she would have to accept the daemon that she met. According to the daemon, with “break” as long as Asa can see her opponent, she can break the enemy commander’s head from his body on the battlefield. This way, she can effectively end wars by herself. However, in exchange, people who would want to use her would also gather around her. Her life will also not be easy at all. Asa obviously chose the daemon.

What happens after Yuru listens to Asa’s story?
Yuru says nothing, and that is when Tadera comes to take him. Interestingly, he comes through the main door and even asks to be let in without fighting. Yuru decides to hear both sides’ perspectives and then think about what he should do next.
What worked and what did not work?

Though we see Asa’s side of the story, we still do not know what’s up with the village. We’re told that something shady was happening there, and the villagers were suspicious. But there is still no explanation as to what they actually wanted in the first place. Again, it seemed like we got too little information from this episode, and we would need to see more to finally understand what the main conflict of the story is.
