Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 14 Review: Still

The episode opens with a flashback to the first meeting between a young Xeno and Stanley. We see Xeno experimenting with building a gun, and it’s Stanley who demonstrates its use with precision. This moment lays the foundation for their deep-rooted friendship, with Xeno vowing to show Stanley the wonders of science. It’s a touching reminder of how much they mean to each other, making it entirely believable that Stanley would go to any lengths to rescue Xeno.

As the story progresses, Xeno begins to understand Senku’s motivations for heading to South America. Recognising their shared goal, he expresses a desire to collaborate with Senku, a decision that could be a huge win for humanity. With these two scientific minds working together, there’s real hope they’ll unlock the mystery of the petrification beam. That said, Stanley is far from out of the picture. After listening to Ginro, he immediately sets off toward South America.

Perhaps the most pivotal part of the episode is when Senku and Xeno conclude that the petrification beam did not spread via light. Watching this discovery unfold, Chrome is visibly awed. Seeing two brilliant scientists piece things together deepens his admiration for them.

At first, I thought that Senku was going to South America purely because he wanted to find out what actually caused the petrification, but I was wrong. Actually, Senku is mainly going there because he wants to make a city of super alloys. However, reaching there is the hardest part of the entire trip. They can’t go to the destination via land as the location is right in the middle of South America, and the Amazon forest is full of threats like dangerous mosquitoes.

Thus, the only way they can go is by travelling the entire continent, that too on very low fuel. Thankfully, luck was on their side, and they managed to meet a brand new character who became the key to solving all their problems. Chelsea was a part of the scientists who got petrified along with Xeno and Stanley. As she was situated a bit far from the main party, she got stranded, and because she could not see without glasses, she walked towards the opposite direction from the others.

All these years, she managed to live and survive within the jungle, and Senku’s party is the one to locate her. She is an interesting character who provided genuine solutions to Senku and even suggested they travel in something like a motorbike. This obviously inspired Senku to think of making bikes, an idea that sounds ridiculous. However, as we all know, even this idea can come to life because both Senku and Xeno are on the same team.

Towards the end of the episode, they also faced another issue that momentarily made their position problematic, but again, with Chelsea’s help, they managed to save themselves. Other than that, this was a fun episode that showcased just how much progress still needs to be made. I thought it to be a decently paced and entertaining watch.
