Dandadan Season 2 Episode 2 Recap

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 3 Review
Dandadan Season 2 Episode 3: Still

This episode picks up from the last episode, where Okarun suddenly attacked Jiji, hinting that something was seriously off. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that both Okarun and Momo are under the influence of the worm’s sinister power. Their erratic actions escalate to the point of self-harm, confirming that the worm is a dangerous force capable of warping minds. It’s even suggested that the tragic incident involving Jiji’s parents was caused by this same influence, which seems to drive its victims to madness and despair.

Interestingly, Jiji appears to be immune to the worm’s manipulation, but the reason why is deeply unsettling. It turns out that the spirit of the first child sacrificed by the villagers has been protecting him all along. This revelation is both heartbreaking and chilling. It also reminded me of how effortlessly this anime can shift from thrilling to emotionally gut-wrenching. That scene was a powerful commentary on human cruelty, and it’s bound to leave a mark on anyone watching.

This episode nearly brought me to tears again. But just as quickly as the tone gets sombre, it pivots to high-octane action in the second half. The evil eye finally makes his entrance, and from what we see, he might actually outmatch Okarun in terms of raw power.

Today’s episode starts very powerfully with Okarun stopping the Evil Eye from harming Momo. He quickly lets the Evil Eye know that he will not stand by and see him do whatever he wants, especially targeting Momo. Thus, Okarun saves Momo and convinces her to get out so that she, in turn, can help them. Here, a very tender and intimate moment gets shared between Momo and Okarun, and Momo promises to come back for both him and Jiji. Needless to say, a thrilling and action-packed fight breaks out between Okarun and the Evil Eye in the very first half.

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 3: Still

This was honestly my favourite section as it truly showed how powerful both the characters are. The fight sequence was lengthy, but at the same time, entertaining. Even though Okarun was seen to be struggling quite a lot, he quickly managed to get the upper hand and prove, at least for now, he is stronger than the Evil Eye. But, the situation is not great as the worm has been releasing poisonous pollen in the air, making survival in the toxic environment very difficult.

Thus, Momo must get help as soon as possible, otherwise both Jiji and Okarun will definitely die. I really enjoyed this episode and saw some occasional animation hiccups, which did not bother me because they were happening during the fight scenes. Though the ending was not satisfying as it opens a door to new problems, it promises greater things.

Verdict

Again, this episode showed the strength of Okarun and Jiji. Even though Momo did not actively participate in the fight, she helped in her own way and in the end, we see her doing the most important thing that saved almost everyone’s lives. Hopefully, the next episode will properly conclude this arc and give us answers to many of the questions.
