Zenshu Episode 11 Review: Luke’s Despair And Wrath

Today’s episode of Zenshu was hands down the best yet with much pain and suffering. Let us see how this episode turned out.

Natsuko finds herself in the worst possible situation, finally coming to terms with the consequences of altering the original storyline. With QJ now gone, his absence leaves a deep impact on her, and she shoulders the guilt. The new enemies resemble her own drawings, making her question her role in everything, and when her help was most needed, she was powerless. To make matters worse, the townspeople have grown suspicious of her origins and whisper behind her back.

As hope dwindles and most of the town lies in ruins, Luke does everything he can to support the remaining survivors. However, even Unio realizes that if things continue like this, Luke could break under the pressure. Eventually, he acknowledges that the only one who can truly help Luke now is Natsuko. Meanwhile, rumours spread, blaming her for QJ’s death, further turning the people against her.

Much like in the original storyline, the villagers, who once attacked Destiny, now set their sights on Natsuko. One by one, she watches events unfold exactly as they did in the movie, but this time, she is the one being hunted. The villagers believe she is destined to summon the ultimate void, making her their target.

This episode marks a drastic shift, turning what was once a lighthearted story into a full-fledged tragedy. Luke, desperate to protect Natsuko, goes as far as drawing his sword against the very people he swore to defend. And with how things ended, it’s clear that the finale of this anime is bound to be just as intense.

Zenshu Episode 11 Review

Luke is devastated now that Natsuko is not here anymore. He also realizes that, along with Natsuko, he lost Unio, who was just like his family. We see him going through a visible breakdown where he becomes absolutely crushed by the idea of losing the love of his life, plus his family. Besides him, the Voids wreak havoc, targeting and killing everyone, while Luke just stays unfocused.

Memmeln and Justice also try their best to kill all the Voids as much as they can, but their numbers are just too much. They acknowledge that something is off as these are not the usual Voids that attack them all the time. The director of the original film sees all this destruction and comments only one thing; it’s no use trying to save this world anymore.  

According to her, the climax of a tale of perishing has already begun.

On the other hand, after Luke goes through his mental and emotional breakdown, Natsuko wakes up in her old world. However, it’s not that simple, as she is actually stuck in an illusion where everyone from her world is criticizing her work mercilessly. Burdened with everything, Natsuko finally accepts to never draw again and becomes a victim of the emotional manipulation of the Void.

However, that is when Unio unexpectedly comes to her rescue. Here, this segment was really special as it showcased Natsuko’s real feelings for Luke. She finally discovers her own heart and how she has been the one who was saved by Luke all along.

Verdict

Today’s episode was definitely one of the best of the series, as it masterfully showcases Luke’s suffering and anguish. It deeply explores his grief as he struggles with the loss of both his love and his closest friend. But, towards the end, we also see that Natsuko will come back to save him.
