Zenshu Episode 8 Recap

The episode opens with the appearance of a peculiar-looking bird, which is soon revealed to be the director Natsuko admires. As the creator of this fantasy world, she is less than pleased with the changes Natsuko is making. She warns Natsuko that Luke’s tragic fate is inevitable, no matter what, he is destined to be devastated. This confuses Natsuko, as Luke no longer harbours feelings for Destiny. If she’s not the one who breaks him, then who will? What she doesn’t realize is that Luke has fallen for her, and if anything were to happen to her, he could spiral out of control.

Determined to express his emotions, Luke finally confesses his love, but he does so with overwhelming intensity. He repeats his feelings nonstop, leaving Natsuko, who has never experienced love before, utterly bewildered. Unsure of how to respond, she starts avoiding him. However, Luke doesn’t give up and eventually takes her on an incredibly romantic date, leading to a pivotal moment in their relationship.

The episode carries a sense of foreboding from the very start, hinting at an impending tragedy for either Luke or Natsuko. This could mark a major turning point for both Natsuko’s character and the overall story. There’s even the possibility that Natsuko may ultimately return to her original world, leaving Luke heartbroken.

This episode starts with Luke narrating how devastating his situation was in the past when he lost almost all his comrades and only one sole future was left for them to protect. People also started to badmouth him, but he kept fighting, and still, he came to the question of what is he even fighting for. Thankfully, that’s exactly when Natsuko lands in his life. Her involvement completely changed his fate and how he used to think about his purpose.

At the beginning of this episode, we see all the events of the show from the perspective of Luke. It is also a journey of how he fell in love with Natsuko slowly but surely. Here, we see how he had been learning new hairstyles to apply on Natsuko and also diligently made food whenever she was about to wake up. Luke realized that he could see her all the time, and he would find his eyes following her more often than not.

This episode was essentially a love letter from Luke to Natsuko, and I absolutely loved it. You see how awkward he had been after he acknowledged he liked her. He also constantly thought of her, even while fighting against enemies. Luke finally comes to the conclusion that he has been fighting for Natsuko. It is for her that he is trying his best to kill the voids.

However, things soon turn dark when Natsuko admits that there is still a bad ending that Luke must face. She discloses many secrets that we never really learned previously. However, what started off as a sweet romantic episode soon turned dark, and we were unexpectedly given a reality check as to how bad situations would be from now on.

I really love this episode and the way this has been transforming its storyline into something better. At first, I did not think this anime would be a good Isekai, but now, one thing is for sure; it will be a good overall show. Hopefully, everything will be better for Natsuko, but if things remain like this, that outcome might not happen.
