Übel Blatt Episode 2 Recap

This episode dives deep into the hidden truths of Koinzell’s past. It begins with his confrontation against a mysterious swordsman summoned by the monastery leader. This swordsman wields a peculiar blade, its hilt emitting the constant screams of a trapped fairy. Though Koinzell successfully counters the swordsman’s attacks, the final strike sends him plummeting to the lowest depths of the monastery. In the chaos, he becomes separated from Weid’s group, who continue their journey toward the ship without him.

Misfortune seems to relentlessly pursue Koinzell, as even in the depths, he finds no respite. The monastery priest, refusing to let him go, arrives with his strongest fighters, the Holy Guardian Brotherhood. During this tense encounter, Koinzell reflects on someone named Ascheriit. It is at this moment that the story begins to unravel its core mysteries, setting the stage for the anime’s main storyline.

The episode sheds light on critical questions surrounding Koinzell’s true identity. Why does he, despite his youthful appearance, possess the mannerisms and skills of a battle-hardened soldier? These questions find answers here, as well as the reason behind his relentless quest to confront the Seven Heroes. The episode reveals that his connection to these heroes and the monastery runs deep, holding the key to his vengeance and ultimate goal.

Koinzell finally finds himself in front of the very enemies that he set out to kill. The seven heroes ultimately appear in front of him, and amongst them, Koinzell rushes in to kill Glenn. It is apparent that Glenn does not remember his past enemy because he makes a grand show of forgiving a child who has decided to attack him. This act of forgiveness gains him more praise from the onlookers, and realizing his failure to enact revenge, Koinzell descends into sullenness.

But this was not the end, as we see the arrival of another very important character. Meet Aht, one of three princesses of the Kusharundo clan, whose brother Koinzell has previously slain. Here, many other important details are also told throughout the episode, and it gets confusing at first, but hopefully, the picture will get clearer later. On top of that, as of now, it has been established that Koinzell has fought and killed Aht’s brother, and she is pissed about it. What his reason was has not been revealed yet, but it is certain that she deemed her brother to be a good person.

Surprisingly, Peepi finds people from her race in the new settlement they are staying at. She is also given the chance to join her people as they plan to form a village consisting of their race. But now that she has established such an important bond with Koinzell, it is a hard decision for her to make.

Today’s episode felt confusing and overflowing with information that does not make things clear but confuses you more. We are getting information in bits and pieces without exploring the whole topic, which, in turn, made this episode chaotic in not a very good way.

Verdict

Übel Blatt Episode 3 Review: Still

I liked the first two episodes, but this was not that good. As the anime has skipped quite a lot from the manga, it is only natural that everything seems all over the place.

I would still recommend you to watch this as the premise is very interesting, and there is a chance they will make things better.
