Tower of God Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

The episode opens with the introduction of a new chatbot named Emily, which has quickly gained popularity among the tower residents. Emily functions much like the AI chatbots, with people becoming hooked on it, asking questions as they would to a friend, companion, or even a partner.
However, Emily is not just an ordinary chatbot. It sometimes asks deeply personal questions, including ones about love, leaving the true nature of Emily uncertain. Whether it is a simple AI or something more sinister controlling it remains unclear. What’s certain is that once people start using it, breaking free is incredibly difficult. Emily’s influence isn’t entirely benign, as it begins to interfere with the players’ lives, especially during exam time. Some players become so reliant on Emily that they use it to find answers to critical exam questions, hoping it will guide them through.
Dan experiences this firsthand when he decides to follow Emily’s advice to choose a specific path, which turns out to be a poor choice. Nevertheless, he manages to turn things around and save the day.
Meanwhile, we also see Viole and Khun’s teams undergoing their own exams to ascend the tower.
Tower of God Season 2 Episode 9 Review And Recap

Today’s episode focused more on Horyang and his past, showcasing him as one of the most powerful characters in this anime. Right from the beginning, it is established that Khun is looking for someone called the devil of the right arm. Not much is disclosed regarding his reason for searching for this man other than curiosity over the fact that he was able to defeat Hatz. Thanks to his teammate, Khun finally locates him, and this man looks oddly similar to Horyang from Viole’s team.
Later, we find out that Horyang himself was looking for this mysterious man because he shared a long history with him. He reveals in front of his teammates that when he was a child, he and another boy called Casano were sold as test subjects. Both grew up like brothers but also went through hellish experiments. They were also not given any names until a kind doctor decided to name them. By the time they found out about the experiment, it was too late for them, as now, they were walking weapons with extraordinary capabilities.

However, they both got separated and now Horyang wants to locate him. His story motivates everyone in his group to help him out in his search, and they all decide to join him. But before that, Horyang confronts Viole about his own identity and powers.
It is revealed that the powers that Horyang and Casano have are wildly similar to the skeleton-like power that Viole occasionally showcases. But how is that possible when the experiment that Horyang and Casano were part of had no other survivors other than them?
Verdict

Today’s episode was interesting because we got to know about a side character’s past who might become important later. There is a high chance that Khun will come in contact with Horyang or even Viole because all of them are searching for Casano.
However, the most problematic aspect of this series is how confusing it can become for anime-only watchers. Many of the information that gets fed to you are not explained properly, and thus, you have to Google it so that you can understand what is happening better.
