The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies Episode 7 Recap

In this episode, we explore the connection between Mimori and Hibana, who were once school friends with a history of amusing interactions. To Hibana, Mimori was a dear friend, but for Mimori, Hibana often felt more like a mischievous tormentor, always cursing and playfully roughhousing her. Despite their chaotic dynamic, it was all in good fun.

When Hibana meets Mimori again, she does so in the presence of Mira, creating a hilariously awkward moment that leaves Mira questioning the nature of their friendship. However, things take an unexpected turn when Mr. Bird arrives on the scene and accuses Mimori of being romantically involved with a villain. He goes as far as to dismiss her from her duties, causing a major shock for both Mimori and Mira. To their surprise, Mimori’s affection for the enemy general is revealed in a way that makes others see it as romantic, forcing the two to confront these feelings for the first time.

Mira is left flustered, while Mimori becomes visibly embarrassed. At that moment, Hibana steps in and, for once, says something other than her usual stream of expletives. She passionately argues that dismissing Mimori over love is unfair when their mission should be about protecting love, not punishing it. Her words resonate, and Mr. Bird reconsiders, ultimately deciding not to oppose Mimori’s relationship.

Today’s episode starts with the cat mentor and Mimori. The cat has finally started to live with Mimori without causing too many problems. It is definitely true that their relationship is becoming far healthier than it used to be. The cat still takes advantage of her but is more protective and supportive of her now.

But again, as I mentioned, he is still an insufferable cat who brings shady job opportunities to our heroine. This time, he wants Mimori to work at a Shabu Shabu restaurant, where she cannot wear her underwear. When Mimori asks what Shabu Shabu has to do with her underpants, the cat tries to manipulate her by saying baseless things like if she wears her underwear while no one else is wearing it, she will be the one who is a pervert.

Mimori, who is too innocent for her own good, even after hearing such things, does not bat an eye. On the contrary, both of them normally go to the market to gather some food for themselves.

But back at Mira’s place, he is too occupied with the many choices for a perfect Christmas gift for Mimori. He doesn’t know what to give her, and that is when two of his subordinates come to bother him. Not only them, but even the stoic Bella, who happens to be the biggest daydreamer ever, arrives. She has a very bad habit of fantasizing about her colleagues in an indecent way. Bella even misinterprets that Mira is selecting a gift for her and fantasizes about him.

There is another segment where the cat guardian and the bird guardian come face to face in the marketplace, where they both start to bicker. And weirdly, their subject of bickering is who is better, Hibana or Mimori? Thankfully, the Bird was tamed by Hibana, who finally says something decent other than her customary, ‘fuck’.

Verdict

Here, we have another entertaining and funny episode that was too short for our liking. The running length of this anime will always be the only negative thing, but other than that, there is nothing not to like.
