When Luv falls in love with Ishika, the last thing that they expected was for their widowed parents to catch feelings for one another. Caught in a complicated situation, the two of them must come up with a solution that doesn’t hamper their parents’ relationship and neither do they have to sacrifice their own happiness.
Luv Ki Arrange Marriage is a movie that is so simple-minded and one-directional that there is not much to talk about. You watch this movie because you want to waste some time and then forget about it the moment that it is over. Sure, you might chuckle once or twice but that’s about it – there’s not much here that will have an impact on you. The problem with these movies is that they don’t take themselves seriously, to the point that there is nothing impactful or moving. The storyline is convenient and there are hardly any plot twists, relying more on slapstick action and loud, over-the-top sequences that create something that is truly funny or moving in any way.

You don’t care about the characters or the story because there is honestly nothing to care about. The simplistic storyline is forgettable the moment that it is introduced because you know what is about to happen and even then, it is translated on screen in the most forgettable way possible. People are screaming and making decisions based on vibes and not on logic, no one communicates in a mature way and most of it doesn’t make any sense. And sure, there are times when we all like watching such movies but this one doesn’t do anything right for it to be entertaining.
Sunny Singh stars as Luv and I am left astounded every time I find him in a movie where he is getting married and comes across some issue in the process. The man has made getting married on-screen his entire persona, only taking a break for Adipurush which is a discussion for another time. In this one, he plays the usual holier-than-that guy who falls for Avneet Kaur’s Ishika suddenly and without any buildup, making us not care for their romance at all. It doesn’t help that they have no chemistry either. Kaur’s Ishika is loud and brash and doesn’t seem to think before speaking, which makes her an annoying lead through and through. Together, they deliver a romance that has nothing in it and we don’t feel the electricity that two people in love are supposed to have.

The other couple is Annu Kapoor’s Prem and Supriya Pathak’s Supriya (ingenious, I know) who either did not care or had nothing to do with their characters. Kapoor and Pathak are both celebrated actors and watching them in this movie is nothing short of sad. Kapoor, for some reason, is a degenerate who constantly vyes after women around him and Pathak is a bidi-smoking woman who decides to give love another chance. The chaos surrounding their relationship is their story, there’s nothing more there that one can get out of it.
Luv Ki Arrange Marriage Review: Final Thoughts
Luv Ki Arrange Marriage is a silly movie that is not entertaining. There is no story and the creators rely on simply loud situations to do the deed on their behalf. The characters aren’t memorable and have no depth and the actors have no chemistry. The outlandish situations don’t land because making loud noises doesn’t translate to humour. In the end, this one is simply forgettable in the worst possible way.
