Mission Yozakura Family Episode 2 Review: Taiyo Must Step Up

Mission Yozakura Family Episode 2 Review

Taiyo has finally been accepted into the Yozakura family. And, no one is bitter about it other than Mutsumi’s oldest brother Kyoichiro who is absolutely livid that Mutsumi chose someone like Taiyo. But what’s done cannot be reversed and now it is up to Taiyo to establish his place in the Yozakura family by being a proper husband to Mutsumi.

Taiyo wakes up in his house with a surprise and a dagger to his throat from his oldest brother-in-law. There, he and Mutsumi also get attacked by a bomb and Kyoichiro finally discloses the main mission of the Yozakura family. The Yozakura family lineage can be traced to the Edo period as a family of renowned spies. They have been generating some of the best and most powerful warriors ever but their family has a secret. Every member of the Yozakura family is born with special talents and powers while only one of them is born without any abilities at all. This person is the most important person, as they are the ones who become the head of the family.

And in this generation, Mutsumi is the 10th head of the Yozakura family. This is also why her protection is so important, as being the leader of a renowned spy clan, she is targeted quite often. All the siblings are there to protect Mutsumi 24/7 but now that Taiyo is officially her husband the duty also falls on his head. Hence, Taiyo will have to do his best to learn everything from his in-laws so that he can be a shield to his wife.

This episode disclosed much of the background of the Yozakura household. It also established the importance of Mutsumi and why everybody especially Kyoichiro is so protective of her. The tone of the episode was mostly funny but when things get serious we see how Kyoichiro is an absolute badass. The episodes are all lighthearted and we are yet to see a severe altercation, but it is indeed a very funny and entertaining anime.

Verdict

I like this series more and more, as it heavily reminds me of Spy x Family. We get some good fights plus some lighthearted moments and witness familial bonds. Now that Taiyo is the husband, he will have to go through some pretty intense training and we will most probably see it start from the next episode.
