Ninja Kamui Episode 10 Overview

Ninja Kamui is a captivating Japanese anime series brought to life by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment, with a touch of executive flair from Williams Street. Making its debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in February 2024, this show has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement in May 2022. Steering the series is director Sunghoo Park, while the iconic character designs come from Takashi Okazaki.

Ninja Kamui first got everyone buzzing when Adult Swim dropped a teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. Other than that, the video game version of Ninja Kamui, called Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, is set to come out in the second quarter of 2024.

The theme song, “Vengeance,” by Coldrain, sets the stage as the opening of the show.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Ninja Kamui Episode 10 Review and Recap: Zai’s Past

Right from the beginning, we see the background of Zai and understand the reasons behind his absolute loyalty towards the ninja organisation. He survived a rough childhood as we see him being at the slave market with other kids of his age. Then all of the kids get saved by Yamaji and his team of ninjas. The other kids leave the scene scared, but Zai continues to stab the man who got him captured. Seeing this, Yamaji suggests he come to the ninja organisation and train with other aspirants.

From there, we go back to where Higan and Mike are. They share a casual chat, plus, we see Higan laugh a little. But everything comes crashing down again when they think of how Emma sacrificed herself to save them. They swear that they will take revenge on everyone and will not let Emma’s death go to waste. They also plan to disclose everything about Auza that they have found on the Internet to let everybody know about their corruption.

At that moment, a crow flies in and brings forth a challenge for Higan. This challenge is from Zai, but before going into their fight I must mention how Zai is absolutely ruthless and has a very skewered ideology of the strong and weak. He shows no mercy even to his friends and hence, we should definitely look forward to the clash between Higan and Zai.

Today’s episode was mostly focused on Zai and his history. We also understand his feelings and witness his transformation from a reckless individual to a cherished companion and then again to a merciless ninja. He never believed in anyone because he was abandoned from a very young age but it was Higan and Mari with whom, Zai felt at ease and thought the three of them would journey together for the rest of their lives. But after Mari and Higan broke the ninja code, Zai felt betrayed. This feeling is still there and he is keen on taking revenge on his dear friend from the past.

Verdict

Today’s episode was not that action-heavy but it was more dramatic. We get action towards the end when we see the final showdown between Zai and Higan begin. The next episode should be insane and I am looking forward to it.
