Social Currency is a reality TV show created by Fazila Allana, Kamna Menezes, Sanvari Alagh Nair, Meghana Badola, and Chad Greulach and features content creators Vagmita Singh, Sakshi Chopra, Ruhi Singh, Mridul Madhok, Parth Samthaan, Bhavin Bhanushali, Aakash Mehta, and Rowhi Rai. The series also features Sunny Leone, Kusha Kapila, Ashish Chanchlani, and Badshah as special guests and has 8 episodes, each with a runtime of around 40-50 minutes.
As the first season of the influencer survival challenge show, we are left shocked at the number of things that we have seen about them, how they behave behind closed doors and people’s backs, as well as the way they use their influencing capabilities to win different rounds. It is to no one’s shock that all of these people have their own strong points, and it is interesting to watch each and every one of them come out of their comfort zone and win certain rounds.
That being said, although the season did give us some fun, some cute and some downright cringy moments, it also doesn’t come as a shock to anyone that the reality TV show also delivers some very shocking moments that have left our mouths agape!
5 Shocking Moments From Social Currency
1. Sakshi constantly breaking the rules, getting eliminated, and the truth coming out
Sakshi has already been a straightforward contestant in the villa who always portrayed herself to be very confident. However, after a few episodes, it was clear that she is very strong-headed as well and is used to getting her way with everything. After her issue with Mridul, she starts to break the rules of the villa by constantly asking the admin to let her contact her mother, then goes on to talk to her mother through Instagram DMs and in spite of the admin reminding her not to break any rules, the last straw was her smoking in the rooms as well.
When she is disqualified from the game, it comes as a shock to many, although most understood her reasoning for leaving because her dogs were sick. Unfortunately for everyone, more so for her bestie Vagmita, it turns out she had planned all of this with her mother, and she simply wanted to get out of the experiment. The producers go as far as to ask her what all of this was about, but then, too, she refuses to answer any of their questions.
Is there more to Sakshi’s decision, or did she simply get bored and leave? Was the pressure too much, or was she simply missing her family too much? I guess we won’t know!
2. Aakash going from the weakest contestant to winning the show
Ok, no probably realised that Aakash would get ahead of everyone when the contestants were first introduced. With Parth and Bhavin ruling the charts and Aakash being the last on the same chart – it felt like an impossible task to do. However, with dedication and hard work, he came out victorious. From making sneaky strategies to becoming friends with people when he saw fit (and, of course, making some really fun content) – there is something or the other one can learn from the comedian! Surprisingly, it took him by surprise as well. Cheers to a good win, Aakash!
3. Mridul’s comments on Sakshi
Early on in the show, Mridul thought it was a great idea to ask Sakshi why she wears so much makeup. That wouldn’t have been the worst question either if he had just kept it at morbid curiosity. Unfortunately for Sakshi, Mridul and us viewers, we were next subject to Mridul’s suggestive questions about whether or not Rowhi can see Sakshi’s nipples, gossiping about her attire and just plain misogyny that none of us wanted or needed and simply left us feeling very uncomfortable.
4. Bhavin getting called out after the superhero challenge
Bhavin’s entire idea for the superhero challenge was surrounding protecting women from predators. However, the women in the audience called him out and asked him about his ideas for how he is thinking of bringing about this change. It becomes clear that he hasn’t read up on the issue and doesn’t have much perspective about it. The more the audience member questions him, the more he fumbles through his answers, being saved by Ruhi in the end. However, the most interesting thing is that in spite of clearly having no idea about what he was saying, he still manages to blame Ruhi for “stealing his thunder”. We are well and shocked!
5. Walking like a dog through the streets of Goa to win a challenge
Ok, this has to be the most shocking and weirdest thing that I can ever imagine doing – making random people on the street walk you like a dog, complete with a leash! It’s awkward and definitely made our jaw drop, more so because the influencers were so confident and chill about it! Where are you guys getting this amount of confidence from, guys?!
