The Show: ATEEZ’s Yeosang, TEMPEST’s Hyeongseop and WayV’s Xiaojun to Become the Next Hosts

The Show is a Korean music voting TV program show broadcasted by SBS M, where viewers from all over the country chip in to decide the top singer of the week. This season, ATEEZ’s Yeosang, WayV’s Xiaojun and TEMPEST’s Hyeongseop, will be hosting the episodes. Yeosang has been the MC on this series for the past three years in a row and will be coming back to familiarity this season. Meanwhile, Xiaojun and Hyeongseop are first-time hosts of this series.

According to one of the representatives from The Show, the MCs are all born in the same year which gives them some kind of chemistry to work with on stage. They also hope that people around Korea enjoy seeing their friendship dynamic on screen. There is hope that their candid dialogue and unlikely friendship will bring Korean Pop fans from all over the world to enjoy this series.

Last season, Yeosang hosted The Show with Kep1er’s Kim Chae-hyun and CRAVITY’s Kang Min-hee. He first started MC-ing for this series with WEi’s Kim Yo Han and Weeekly’s Jihan. This series has been a staple in the Korean music television program scene and was first started in 2011. The first season was hosted by f(x)’s Luna, Hyoseong, Himchan and Hyeri. This TV series has a tier system of voting moving from pre-live and live voting during each episode.

However, voting is just one criterion for judging these K-pop bands and artists. It also includes broadcast, digital sales, professional judging, physical album sales and video views. These categories mostly judge visibility and the number of listens their music has been getting. Over the past few years, popular bands like BTS, GOT7, Wanna One and many others have won accolades from this series. The Show is a great platform for artists to share their work and see how it performs against other artists.

This year’s hosts are artists from popular Korean bands like ATEEZ, WayV and TEMPEST. ATEEZ originally debuted in 2018 and contains eight members including Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho. Their first project was a mini-album titled Treasure EP.1: All to Zero. While WayV is a Chinese boy band, a branch of the popular Korean band NCT and they originally debuted in 2019. There are seven members in the group, including Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang.

For TEMPEST, this Korean Pop band is a seedling, just celebrating its one-year anniversary. They debuted in March of 2022 with their mini-album It’s Me, It’s We. There are seven members in the band including Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Eunchan, Lew, Hwarang, and Taerae. All of these new and upcoming bands will be able to see how the Korean pop industry works and the kind of thought that goes into making a record-breaking extended play or album.
