Big Bet (카지노), formerly known as King Of Savvy, is an original Disney+ South Korean drama series directed by King Yoon-sung (known for helming The Outlaws (2017)), who is also stepping in as the screenwriter. The series stars Choi Min-sik as Cha Moo-sik, Lee Kyu-hyung as young Cha Moo-sik, Son Seok-koo (or Son Suk-ku) as Oh Seung-hoon and Lee Dong-hwi as Jeong-pal in the lead roles.
Premiering on February 15, 2023, Big Bet Season 2 episode 2 titled “Assassins” has a runtime of 62 minutes with a synopsis that reads, “Yangdo gang members enter the Philippines to take care of Cha Moo-sik.”

For a change of scene, Seung-hoon drops by at the Bolton Casino, but it’s quite obvious as to what his ulterior motives are. Starting off by playing a few games at the table, his rounds of interrogation ensue and try to draw in Jung-pal’s attention and answers for Philip and So-jung’s murders. Sang-gu catches sight of their interaction when an agitated Jung-pal leaves Seung-hoon’s questions unanswered as his wounds are pierced by them.
On the other side, it looks like Moo-sik has some heart after all and we’re let in on the news that Tae-seok lived to see the day after last episode’s happenings, but it’s all going to bite Moo-sik in the back soon enough. Yangdo gang members fly from Busan, Korea to the Philippines to finish off Ms Ko’s errand. Through their connections with Mr Woo, an acquaintance of Moo-sik, they get in contact with him and take Moo-sik in as their hostage.
They torture him at a deserted location, and almost cut off one of his ankles only to be stopped by a knock at the door. Enter Tae-seok. He warns the chief gang member about Moo-sik’s reputation in the Philippines and that Ms Ko, whom he helped tie up with the gangster connections, won’t be able to protect them if the truth is outed.
As Tae-seok takes over the present situation, his grudges get the better of him and he locks up Moo-sik in the trunk of a car, only to push it into a lake later. Reaching out to Sang-chul back in Korea, he confirms if Moo-sik ever ripped him off, but its revealed that Moo-sik never did him wrong. Thereafter, a suspicious delivery drops off a bag of snakes at Tae-seok’s doorstep while he snoozes off after drowning himself in his alcoholic melancholy. Turns out, it was the same Chinese Junket rival’s doing, who teams up with Moo-sik after saving his life.
Back at Moo-sik’s place, Sang-gu and Jung-pal are worried sick about his absence. Once he’s dropped off by his saviour, he doesn’t answer their questions directly, but leaves them with the message that he’s sent Tae-seok back to Korea, an indirect dig at having ‘taken care of the situation’.
As far as the police is concerned, Mark and Seung-hoon try to find a middle ground in their own taciturn ways after everything that happened. Daniel, ‘the Big Boss’, is finally brought into the light on his granddaughter’s birthday, to which Moo-sik had been invited as well. He offers him a position in his stone excavation business established in Lubao, but Moo-sik suggests John’s name for the takeover instead. Following this conversation, John drops Moo-sik off at the Bolton, and conveys his thanks for putting him first and looking out for him.
Sang-gu keeps an eye out for this exchange and captures proof of their meetings on his phone as the haunting images of Philip’s murder are still alive in his mind. Having sighted John back at the murder scene in the last season, it looks like he has his own plans in mind, which might eventually pull him closer to Seung-hoon, whom he seemed drawn towards after discovering his identity as a cop.
Chil-gu comes back to clear up matters around his investments and shareholdings with Min Seok-jun, who with the help of Moo-sik had driven him back to Korea in order to escape such an outcome. Having opened a consulting firm at a common location instead of his affluent hotel, he’s taken aback by the surprise visit paid by Chil-gu and the Consul Yoon-gi.
The business discussions commence and the other party tries to record Seok-jun’s narrative as evidence. Since he and Chil-gu didn’t sign a formal contract binding the investment on an official basis, the former rules it out as a mere act of “borrowing” the money and goes back on his words, leaving Chil-gu perplexed about his shares.
Big Bet Season 2 Episode 2 Ending
Following this account, Yoon-gi, Young-hee and Chil-gu bond over drinks and mutually bad-mouth Moo-sik and his threats, while seemingly contemplating about hiring a professional to remove him from the equation. On the other end of the table, Moo-sik’s game plan of extracting more and more money from Jung Suk-woo keeps on giving, as the financier can’t stop himself from betting and loaning funds from the casino in-charge.
Young-hee’s suspicions about Seung-hoon and the local police extorting their money are also proved wrong when her partner, i.e. the head of the Tax Department approaches the Mayor, revealing that the discovered drugs were in fact his own possessions. Her former exchange with Chil-gu and Yoon-gi clearly left a mark on Chil-gu, as a huge amount of money is transferred to her account for a deadly deal to be carried out by her boyfriend – also in cahoots with the Mafia. The last scene, however, unveils the Mayor taking personal interest in this job, which requires getting rid of Min Seok-jun, and not Moo-sik as we’d envisioned initially.
Big Bet Season 2 Episode 2 Review
Now that the pieces are finally falling into place, we’re getting more clarity as to what may have led to the original setting of the show – Min Seok-jun’s murder. Moo-sik getting entangled in this mess may have been a part of the plan all along since each person involved in the formulation of this idea holds a grudge against him.
Moreover, Moo-sik is probably one of the most interesting characters I’ve seen in a long while, and of course, the credit for the same goes out to Choi Min-sik for portraying the role’s grey sides so well. One can’t confirm if he’s the hero, villain or even the anti-hero in this story. Deflecting the stock features of each of those categories, he emerges as someone picking up on characteristics of all of those labels, making it even harder for us to construe him as either the good or bad guy.
