The much-awaited 9th episode of The Eminence in Shadow (陰の実力者になりたくて!) is here, and it has again managed to deliver an enjoyable watch. We got action, thrill, and many more from this already cast-heavy series. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.
The Eminence in Shadow Episode 9 Overview

This series has garnered quite the hype after its release. And the credit surely goes to good animation, a relatable male lead, and a bunch of beautiful anime girls who are sure to start waifu wars.
The anime is directed by Nakanishi Kazuya, who is also famous for his work with Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Trinity Seven, Strike the Blood, etc. Nexus studio is handling the animation, which despite not being very famous in its field, is delivering satisfactory results as of now.
I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

The Eminence in Shadow Episode 9 Review and Recap – Walking Down Our Own Path
Those who wanted a great showdown in this episode, just like me, were not disappointed in the slightest. In this episode, we saw some great action with unsuspecting revelations that really thickened the story.
The episode begins with the Crimson Knights talking amongst themselves and strategizing how they can save the students captured inside the school. But they are not the only ones gearing up for the big battle. We have the Shadow Garden ready as well, waiting for the orders of Cid.

Thankfully, Sherry was able to discover how to control the Eye of Avarice and stop it from shutting everyone’s magic. She then moves to a hidden tunnel from where she and Cid part ways to do their own bit of work.
We also get a peek into Sherry’s past and realize how her mother was killed, and her current father took her in and raised her as his own.
You truly feel her devotion and pain. And see how she manages to go toward the auditorium and shut down the device that was blocking all the flow of magic.
This is where the episode becomes truly interesting. Every student, including President Rose, takes up their sword and starts to slice the intruders up the moment the barrier lifts. But it is not easy to deal with them, and we begin to lose hope as the audience.

But that is when in true heroic fashion, Cid enters wearing his glorious Shadow attire and pulls up with his horde of Shadow Garden members. He mercilessly slaughters the imposters and lets the captured students flee the scene.
The moment when you think that everything is fine comes to another problem. We notice the main boss, whose face is hidden behind a huge armour, as he sets the entire school on fire.
Shadow hunts him down, and that is when we get to see who the main culprit actually is and why he did what he did.
Verdict
This episode was perhaps the best till now, at least according to me. It made me hyped and wonder what might happen next moment. One might argue that this story is more straightforward than many animes out there, but it delivers just the correct amount of entertainment you need from time to time. This anime is a guilty pleasure that I thoroughly enjoy every week, and I am already looking forward to the next episode. Watch this anime on Netflix.
