Hulu is coming out with another real-to-screen content and, this time it is Santa Evita. The streaming platform has been on a roll this year putting up some amazing adaptations and true crime stories such as The Dropout, We Crashed, Under the Banner of Heaven, The Girl from Plainville and more. Taking the story of Argentina’s First Lady in its upcoming miniseries, it will be exciting to see what the network has in store for its audience next.
The soon-to-be aired web series is based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Tomás Eloy Martínez, who also serves as the creator of the show. The script is written by Marcela Guerty and Pamela Rementeria with directors Rodrigo Garcia Barcha and Alejandro Maci helming it. Santa Evita Plot/Synopsis
The show will recount the story of Argentina’s First Lady, Eva Perón, after her death in 1952 and how her embalmed remains were kidnapped by the military dictatorship in 1955 before its grand public reveal.

The trailer description for the series explains: “This is the story of Eva Perón after her death. The embalmed body of “Evita” had an eventful journey that lasted for 22 years, and was every bit as eventful as her 33 years of life. Evita died in 1952, but her corpse waited above ground for three years for the construction of a monument that was ultimately never built.”
“In 1955, President Perón’s government was overthrown by a military coup, who hid the body for 19 years to prevent it from becoming a symbol against the regime. While only a political figure for six years as General Perón’s wife, her corpse influenced Argentine politics for more than two decades — weaving a morbidly strange story that passed into the realm of mythology. To the military officers that took over, Evita was even more dangerous than when she was alive, as all feared that errant corpse without a resting place.”

Natalia Oreiro will be seen headlining the show in the role of Eva Perón. Alongside her, we will see Ernesto Alterio, Dario Grandinetti, Domingo Peron, Diego Velazquez, Francesc Orella, Diego Cremonesi as Eduardo Arancibia, Ivan Moschner, Gabriela Ferrero, Hector Diaz amongst others.
Santa Evita Release Date, Trailer and More
The miniseries is slated to arrive on Hulu and Star+ LA on July 26, 2022. It will consist of seven episodes, each with a runtime of about 40 minutes.
