What a ride the previous episode was! The dreams our ex-hero Leo seems to be having turn out to hold much more meaning behind them. Who would have imagined Leo’s true motive, let alone identity or even origin? We can now understand the actual weight of the title, I’m Quitting Heroing, and how long and difficult a journey it must have been for Leo.

Despite the problematic goal, Leo still seems to possess a good heart. His most recent tasks accomplished includes helping the demon generals. In Yuusha Yamemasu Episode 7, Leo has stepped up to help the last remaining general on the list- Edwald. Though the main question arises- Wasn’t Queen Echidna and general Shutina helping Edwald while Leo dealt with Mernes? At least two top brasses of the demon army are involved with a goal, and the outcome is Edwald still being at point zero. Raises questions in the plot, doesn’t it?

This is not the only flaw the story of Yuusha Yamemasu has. Our ex-hero doing a complete lap through all the demon generals felt half-hearted and desultory, like he’s just fulfilling the requirement before unlocking stage 2 of the story. Well, at least we can get excited for the second part then. How Leo addressed the “problem” Edwald was facing was similar to the previous generals’ situations. A cursory read of an office-like situation, planning a circumstance when Edwald will realise the problem on his own, maybe enlist some other minor character’s help, and boom- the problem is solved. Just like that.

Though, after the reveals in the few recent episodes, the plot used the developments wisely. Robots, yes mecha robots, were used, and so was Leo’s past. Queen Echidna has shown a few of her true powers, and even though we are aware of her motive, her complete plans are still somewhat elusive. This supports the point that the characters are all well-written in I’m Quitting Heroing, slowly evolving as the plot unwraps itself.

Many questions were answered throughout the series, and many new ones were raised. Especially in I’m Quitting Heroing Episode 7, when the Queen wants to talk to Black Onyx. Keeping in mind her plot to enlist help from the hero in the books, is the secret finally out of the bag?

This episode had other good points as well. Edwald’s daughter was a great minor character. The workplace scenario was depicted well. Even the side characters were decently animated. The sound effects and the background music used while the attacks helped build the tension in those moments. The post-credit scene left us feeling uneasy. The general tone of the show is back to its upbeat nature, though the air of mystery prevails throughout.
