In From the Cold is absolutely amusing. There’s no other way to say it. I wish I could’ve said this and ended my review, but that’s something frowned upon so I will elaborate without giving away an ounce of spoilers. But, keep in mind, In From the Cold is bonkers. If you’re someone who cannot suspend your disbelief, then this is going to be something out of your worst nightmare.
For others, this is a very fun and interesting watch. You know those shows that take a bit to catch up to but once you’re there you’re in it for the long haul. In From the Cold has Jenny, a woman with a shady past and exciting superpowers, come back into the field thanks to the CIA. She has to manoeuvre her relationship with her daughter, who thinks she’s a boring and normal mom, and also fight the bad guy/guys. You know this is going to be interesting, sort of crazy and a bit hilarious.
What you won’t be ready for is the level of insanity that the series showcases. For anyone who likes funny sci-fi shows where anything can happen, this is it. And trust me, anything can happen and does happen in this show. It’s funny and very confusing to witness the craziness that this show comes up with but it’s just insanely entertaining to set your eyes away for even a minute.
That being said, not everything is flowers and sunshine. The series takes so damn long to get you invested. In the first episode or two, I was just confused as to what is going on. Plus, you are constantly asked to believe stuff that absolutely cannot make sense in the real world. But then again, Netflix is showcasing this series as sci-fi so anything and everything goes. Moreover, there are some moments in Jenny’s real-world that can drag a bit. It would’ve been a better and more smooth-sailing watch had the series cut down on certain interactions in some of the episodes to make it tighter and more put together.

That being said, In From the Cold is an enjoyable series. If you are not someone who nitpicks anything and everything around them, I think you’re going to find this rather fun. It’s great entertainment, is funny and rather great to watch. I had a splendid time with it from start to finish, although at times the flashbacks were a bit annoying. But trust me, stick with it – you won’t be disappointed.
Now, coming to the superpower – no, I won’t spoil it. I will, however, say that my jaw was on the floor when I saw what they brought to us as Jenny’s superpower. I was expecting flying or invisibility, but this is more helpful and is quite freaky to watch. Honestly, the series became more interesting when that happened, although it still would be quite interesting, upbeat and freaky without it. The banter and the humour are pretty great but what takes the cake are the action sequences which are just so damn watchable.

In From the Cold is a surprisingly refreshing series that is funny and brings something new to the table. You have probably watched several sci-fi shows but there’s something extremely watchable and hilarious about this one. It’s cheesy, sometimes drags and is a bit silly at other times, but I’d highly suggest this one regardless.

Two stars for me. After the first five minutes of the first episode, including the opening title sequence, I thought this was going to be some kind of satire/comedy. Alas, it’s the embarrassing attempts at serious dialogue and acting that provides the entertainment value. Maybe it gets better after the second episode. When I’m bored–really, really bored–I may try to sit through the rest of it.
one star here from me blæææ blææ blæ, yup very boring i could not watch a whole episode at all, i just rusching trough the whole thing in 45-50 minutes, stopped only then i saw something happen and thats was very rare, this was like feminist tv show, tried to be better than men and so on nope stupid, and the second last eps number 7 with the ice skating B……TC..noope could done something else outside, i will not watch another sesson of this, thumbs down and removed from my list, dont want bad things in my list.
