Tuck Jagadish Review: Nani’s Film Is High On Action and Drama

Tuck Jagadish, a Telugu action drama, is now out on Amazon Prime. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film stars Nani, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, Jagapathi Babu, Daniel Balaji, Nassar, Parvathi T, Rohini, and Devadarshini. The 145 minutes film has English subtitles.

Tuck Jagadish review contains no spoilers.

The story takes place in a village where wealthy families refuse to remain in peace, and the farmers bear the brunt of the consequences. Veerendra (Daniel Balaji) enjoys tormenting innocent people, whereas Aadisesh Naidu (Nassar) is wise and worried about the villagers. After Aadisesh’s death, it is up to his sons Bosu Babu (Jagapathi Babu) and Jagadish to keep the peace (Nani). However, the road is not easy, as it is plagued with betrayal and greed.

The opening 20 minutes of the film are pretty disturbing, as we see a lot of bloodshed and villages being mistreated. I was engrossed in the drama as well as curious to see how Jagadish would make his entrance. As expected and anticipated, he makes a heroic entrance with style.

When Jagadish returns from the US, he is taken aback by the village’s state. But he hardly does anything to help them until it becomes personal. Now that Jagadish has a reason, he is ready to smash and punish anyone who tries to harm him, his family or the villagers. While serving us many fast-paced action scenes, the makers also provided us with poignant family drama.

While the political mess unfolds in Amazon Prime movie Tuck Jagadish, Jagadish also finds himself in a predicament when his niece Chandra (played by Aishwarya Rajesh) expresses an interest in marrying him. I know that sounds gross, but he thankfully respects their uncle-niece bond and declines her proposal. There are some love scenes between Nani and Gummadi Varalakshmi (Ritu Varma) within the adrenaline-fuelled narration. But they hardly do anything to ease the tension.

I don’t want to give any major spoiler in my Tuck Jagadish review, so I’ll tell what works and what doesn’t work. The action scenes are choreographed well and will impress the fans for sure. The music is energetic and matches the tone of the film. Actor Nani, Bosu Babu and Daniel Balaji give powerful performances. Nani’s astounding stunts and fight scenes leave you wondering if he does it every day! The supporting cast also plays their part well. Unfortunately, the screenplay occasionally lags and gets dull, so you have no choice but to scroll ahead. Also, the chemistry between Jagadish and Gummadi is weak and hardly adds anything to the story.

Tuck Jagadish Review: Final Thoughts

So if I were, to sum up, the film in a few words, it’s a decently made masala entertainer with plenty of action and drama. It has drawbacks, but a true South Indian masala action drama has been released in a long time, and you should certainly watch it.

Tuck Jagadish is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
