Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe Review: Bringing Back The Golden Days

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe was released on Disney+ on August 28, 2020. Directed by Bob Bowen, the film is the second feature-length film of the Phineas and Ferb series. The movie makes its way to the viewers 5 years after the series finale on television and pulls the strings of nostalgia.

The Team Returns!

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe

It’s another day in Danville and Candace once again fails to bust the boys! While she sits outside her home contemplating why this always happens and how she is not important or special, a space pod lands in front of her and Venessa which, according to Candace, is another one of Phineas and Ferb’s notorious invention. But to her surprise, it isn’t and she is sucked into it and goes to space, to a planet named planet Feebla-Oot. In the mysterious planet, she is the chosen one!

Phineas and Ferb witness this and identify the license plate on the pod (smart!) and build a portal with Baljeet, Isabella, and Buford but somehow land into Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. from where all of them start their space journey to save Candace and Vanessa with Perry as their secret companion.

Growing up, Phineas and Ferb has been my favourite show like hundreds of kids out there and to date, if I had to name one cartoon that has immense repeat value for people of all ages, it would be Phineas and Ferb. Somewhere, we all grew up with the show and learned about AGLET from them! It was an amazing experience to see all these characters back on screen with the same charm and energy!

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe

Watching Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe was like taking a trip down the memory lane. The film stresses more on the bond between Phineas, Ferb, and Candace, and this time their mission is bigger and more dangerous. Remember, when Meap came on earth? It’s something like that! Before the Alien abduction, we see Candace going through an existential crisis where she questions her significance in the grand scheme of things. The film here tries to show its characters growing.

The film overall has the same brilliant Phineas and Ferb formula, with perfectly timed humour and small songs, all the while saving their beloved sister and evolving the series overall where Candace no longer wants to complain but embrace her bond with her brothers.

Stream It or Skip It

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe

STREAM IT! Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe is a light-hearted film that will hit on the nostalgia, all the while making you happy with a storyline that is intriguing and fun. The film features the song “Adulting” which revolves around adulting, obviously, and how adults may take some hilariously overconfident and dumb decisions sometimes.

The film ends on a cliffhanger where we see Perry, The Platypus, still has his agent watch on his wrist and everyone around him, including his family, hears the voice of Major Monogram saying, “Excellent work, agent P.”
Perry hastily covers his watch in order to lower the voice, but it’s clear from everyone’s reactions that they heard it and that is where the movie ends. So, is Perry’s cover finally blown?

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe is now streaming on Disney+.
