The new Netflix documentary The Trapped 13 Thai Cave Rescue is filled with thrilling and inspiring moments. However, it is not the only show about the real-life Tham Luang cave rescue mission. In fact, there are many series and films made on the subject prior to the documentary.

1. Thirteen Lives(2022)
Ron Howard’s Thirteen Lives is one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year. Centred around the rescue mission shown in The Trapped 13 Thai Cave Rescue, the film offers a dramatic yet inspiring look into the story.

It stars Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farell and Joel Edgerton in lead roles. Furthermore, the screenplay is written by William Nicholson.
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Bron Creative, Imagine Entertainment, Magnolia Mae, and Storyteller productions served as the production companies for the film. Thirteen Lives was distributed by United Artists Releasing and Amazon Studios.

2. The Cave(2005)
The Cave is a 2005 horror thriller film that revolves around a group of cave divers who get stuck inside the Romanian ruins after their main exit is blocked permanently. The film explores their journey deep down the cave while surviving ancient monsters.
The film was directed by Bruce Hunt and written by Tegan West and Michael Steinberg. It starred Cole Hauser, Piper Perabo, Lena Headey, Morris Chestnut and Eddie Cibrian in lead roles.

3. The Cave Rescue(2022)
The Cave Rescue is a six-part drama series based on the real-life Tham Luang Cave incident. The episodic tale ventures into the complete details much like The Trapped 13 Thai Cave Rescue, and is also described as a critically acclaimed take.
The series was directed by Kevin Tancharoen and Nattawut Poonpiriya, and produced by the streaming giant Netflix. It stars Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote as Coach Eak, Thaneth Warakulnukroh as Governor Narongsak, Osottanakorn Supakorn Kitsuwon as Saman Gunan, Bloom Varin as Colonel Bhak Loharjun, Urassaya Sperbund as Kelly, a Thai-American hydrology expert, Manassanan Panlertwongsakul as Pim, a park ranger, Christopher Stollery as Rick Stanton and Nicholas Farnell as John Volanthen.

4. The Rescue(2021)
The Rescue is a National Geographic Documentary that also captures the incidents of The Trapped 13 Thai Cave Rescue but through a different method. The documentary makes use of a camcorder that was attached to the uniforms of the rescuers to give an innate look, into the unfolding events.
It was directed by Jimmy Chin, and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, who also served as the producer of the documentary. Moreover, the Nat Geo feature was also nominated for the BAFTA Award for the best documentary.
