The plot of the film follows a family man, Blake who relocates to Oregon to inherit his childhood home after the disappearance and supposed death of his father. He makes the move with his workaholic wife Charlotte and daughter Ginger and begins a new life in this vacant home. However, one full moon night changes everything for him when his family is attacked by a werewolf that claws at Blake. In fear of the dangerous creature, the family barricades themself inside the house. The danger outside may have been avoided, but unknown to them, there is another danger brewing within the safety of their house.
Blake soon notices that there is something wrong with him and begins transforming into something horribly terrifying. Now, he needs to make sure to find a way to keep his family safe, even if it is from him. How will the family face this unexpected tragedy and what will Blake do to keep his family safe? Or will he fall part and lose his humanity in front of the urges surrounding his body and soul.

The film is directed and co-written by Leigh Whannell who is famed for writing Saw, Dead Silence, Insidious, and more and directing Insidious: Chapter 3, Upgrade, and The Invisible Man. The movie stars Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, Matilda Firth, Sam Jaeger, Ben Prendergast, Benedict Hardie, Zac Chandler, Beatriz Romilly, and other cast members.
The movie is produced by Jason Blum through his Blumhouse Productions banner and Ryan Gosling. While the latter was also set to act in the film, he later dropped out of filming and stayed as the producer. Meanwhile, Derek Cianfrance was set to direct the film but later dropped out along with Gosling due to scheduling conflicts. Later, Whannell took over the filming and finished filming in 2024.
Actor Christopher Abbott is playing the lead role of Blake joined by Netflix’s crime drama series Ozark star Julia Garner who will be playing the role of his wife Charlotte. The film is looked for to with much anticipation as it becomes another addition to Universal Pictures’ Monster Universe as was announced back in 2014.
