In a one-of-a-kind film extravaganza, the 2023 Busan International Film Festival Red Carpet for the event’s opening ceremony kicked off the ten-day long festival on October 4, 2023. Being held in the vicinity of Busan Cinema Centre, the festival will conclude on October 13, 2023, and is being hosted by the veteran talents of one of the top South Korean actors, Song Kang-ho. Park Eun-bin has stepped up to the occasion as the first-ever solo moderator for the ceremony, which was also broadcast live on YouTube and Naver TV. Initially, she had been paired up with actor Lee Je-hoon, but he eventually had to drop out due to health constraints.
The 2023 Busan International Film Festival Opening Ceremony was held at the Busan Cinema Center Outdoor Theatre, where the Closing Ceremony will also be held on October 13. BIFF 2023 Red Carpet for Day 1 of the film festival saw the coming in of star-studded casts of either recently released Korean movies or upcoming K-dramas and films like the Vigilante Kdrama, The Perfect Deal, A Bloody Lucky Day, and movies like Cobweb, Hopeless or Hwaran, and Netflix films Ballerina and Believer 2, to name a few.
Some of the 2023 Busan International Film Festival Red Carpet Looks
Park Eun-bin
Our beloved Extraordinary Attorney Woo has made it a trailblazing habit to lead the first set of “firsts”; this time, she became the first-ever solo moderator for the opening ceremony at BIFF 2023. She was a total dreamy vision in her bright blue Monique Lhuillier strapless tulle gown on the first day of the Busan International Film Festival 2023. Keeping it minimal, her frilly dress made the show-stopping statement at the event, while her glowing lariat necklace and hoop earrings added glow to her look in the simplest yet most effective way possible.
Jeon Jong-seo
In her JOVANI fit and flare long black gown, the South Korean actress, soon to star in the Netflix film Ballerina, took the 28th Busan International Film Festival 2023 Red Carpet on the opening day by storm. Her strapless gown takes a rather close-fitting outlook in the upper half of the dress, which then flows down into a flared skirt-like look. It is also decked with bows, which adorn the dress with a symmetrical look.
Han Hyo-joo
The Moving actress has won all our hearts already with her role in the recently concluded Disney+ Korean drama series. With her having earned the title of the nation’s new girl crush, all eyes were bound to be on her. And so she has delivered one of the best looks of the Busan International Film Festival Day 1 in her monochrome slit-neck dress from Chanel’s Resort 2022 collection. With her dress’ deep neck, she made the most of the opportunity to pair her attire with a long trickling-down necklace and its complementary earrings. White flapped shoulders and flared sleeves give the otherwise dark dress a unique touch.
Although the dress may not seem the most flattering choice for her, Hyo-joo still knows how to pull it off. She and her fellow Believer 2 cast mates stepped up to the occasion.
Krystal Jung
Mononymously known as Kystral, the former f(x) member always knows how to do the fashion game right, and so, she again served in her dark gown choice in a way that can only be as confidently carried by her. Her Kameron Bead-embellished Velvet Column Evening Dress from the Ralph Lauren Collection is an easy winner that doesn’t need any necklace to accentuate the singer’s evening look. Her Korean period black comedy film Cobweb‘s cast members Lim Soo-jung, Song Kang-ho and Oh Jung-se joined her.
Song Joong-ki
Alongside the upcoming Hopeless Korean movie’s cast members and director, Joong-ki swore by the classic route, kept things light with his black and white suit choice, and resorted to the quintessential bow tie look. His fans often lightheartedly joke about how he’s forgotten how to age, and the same evergreen essence of his visuals was again on display on the first day of the film festival.
Yoo Seung-ho
Taking a different and unique path, The Perfect Deal Kdrama actor stood out among his fellow co-stars of the 2023 Wavve K-drama series. Seung-ho ditched the usual suit and tie choice and went for a perennially shimmery two-piece suit paired with a silky deep-necked shirt.
