Sadik Demir is a private investigator who has to find a guy named Ferhat Gonen in order to clear his debt to ganglord Boss. While looking for Ferhat, Sadik is also contacted by a woman named Buket Koseoglu to find the killer of her uncle Hasmet Koseoglu, owner of the K&S group. How he solves these two cases which keep getting more and more complex as his investigation deepens is what the movie is all about.

Uluc Bayraktar has certainly proved that he is a master of storytelling in the way he reveals the truths without making them seem evident. The way he and writers Damla Serim and Mehmet Eroglu have portrayed the plot makes it easy to not let the two cases getting mixed. The two cases are very different from each other and what appeals is that even the settings (the surroundings) play a part in helping us keep the proceedings of the two cases apart.
As far as the acting is concerned, everyone does a commendable job. Everyone is as convincing as they need to be in a way that makes them authentic to the overall atmosphere of the story. Nejat İsler as Sadik has been the perfect choice as he leaves no stone unturned to show the character’s complex nature as a lover and a detective. Ilayda Akdogan as Pinar is perfect as a teenage schoolgirl. Hazal Filiz Kucukkose nails her part as the very appealing yet mysterious Buket Koseoglu without overdoing it (you have to watch the movie to understand why I’m saying this).

There is no action because there is no need. And the absence is never felt, again thanks to the way the plot progresses. This absence of action further adds to the grounded nature of the movie and makes the events feel organic and real. The plot of the movie fits its duration perfectly, something that also adds to the movie’s effectiveness. 2 hours will go by without you even realising it and credit goes to the makers yet again for giving us a gripping experience.
The narrative does swing between being intricate and being complicated but overall manages to clear things up for the viewers. However, some of us might require a second watch in order to grasp Sadik’s explanations when he analyses the two cases and puts them into words. It is very important for non-Turkish audiences to remember the names of the different characters and how they are related or else they are bound to lose track.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the movie is a compelling watch with its effective storytelling and great acting that does justice to the complex plot. If you like watching mystery thrillers that offer complex cases and conspiracies, this one will serve you perfectly. Just remember to your eyes and ears wide open. After all, someone is dead and we have to find out why.
