YOUNG POSSE ‘GO해’ MV Review: A Playful Reminder to Go Ahead Anyway

YOUNG POSSE ‘GO해’ MV Review: There are only a few music videos which make you sit upright and think of going ahead with what you wanted to do, and Young Posse’s GO해 belongs to that very category.

The title itself is a tiny push: GO해 combines the English word “Go” with the Korean 해 (hae), creating a phrase that essentially suggests “go ahead,” and that is pretty much the entire attitude of the song. The song asks us not to overthink and not to wait for the perfect moment or sit around negotiating with our own laziness. It asks us to “GO!”

Somehow, Young Posse make that advice feel less like a TED Talk and more like your coolest friend putting their arm around your shoulder and taking you for a walk.

YOUNG POSSE ‘GO해’ MV Review: The Song Is Basically a Magical Push Out of the Door

The first thing that hits about the ‘GO해’ MV is the energy it brings in. it is playful without being childish, energetic without feeling like it is desperately trying to convince you about the energy. There is a very distinct casual street quality in the video, the kind of looseness and movement that makes everything feel like it could break into a dance at any given second.

The MV does not feel polished to the point that it becomes distant; instead, there is a sense of movement everywhere. The girls, the setting, the choreography, the attitude: everything feels like it is telling you to stop standing at the edge of your own life and actually jump into it.

The motivation is not presented as some great transformation, and I really like that about the MV. There is a charm attached to that simplicity.

The Choreography Feels Effortless

The choreography is one of my favourite parts of the MV because it has a wonderfully difficult quality of looking easy. Nothing feels stiff or like every single movement exists purely to prove that they are good dancers. There is a natural flow; the choreography carries the song’s playful personality without overpowering the members, and Young Posse feel like a group without becoming an indistinguishable unit.

Each member gets their own little moment, personality and space within the movements, and the individual moments fold neatly into the larger performance. It gives the choreography a lovely balance which is not easy to create.

“I Gave My Laziness a Spank”, And Here I Felt Seen

The line that I should be talking about: “I gave my laziness a spanking”!  That is the exact kind of unserious-but-effective motivation I required.

There is something funny about this line because it takes the idea of fighting procrastination and refuses to make it unnecessarily “profound”. I mean… sometimes you do not need a step-by-step productivity plan; sometimes you need to (metaphorically) catch hold of your laziness by its collar and tell it that today it should better leave!

That exact sense captured in GO해 works for me because it does not sound like a lecture but like a mood. The song keeps returning to this mood of moving forward, and eventually that attitude becomes contagious, and you find yourself absorbing its confidence without even noticing.

The Youngest You Will Ever Be Is Right Now

There is another thought running through the song that makes the whole thing “bittersweet”, which is that this is the youngest we are ever going to be. It sounds almost painfully obvious, but how often do we actually live like we believe that?

We wait for the right time, confidence, money, experience; for the version of ourselves who finally knows exactly what she is doing and then suddenly months have passed. ‘GO해’ seems to look at all of that overthinking and then give a ridiculously simple yet important push, asking us, what if you just do it right away.

The song thus gets its uplifting quality beyond the upbeat energy. There is a little bit of freedom, not the dramatic kind but something much smaller. The freedom of deciding that imperfect action is still action and the freedom of being young and a little ridiculous and trying things before you know whether they will work.

Final Verdict

Young Posse’s GO해 is a cheerful shove in the absolute right direction. The MV’s street-inspired energy, playful presentation and effortlessly engaging choreography work together to make the song feel like an invitation to move forward. It wants you to try; stop waiting for yourself to become ready and simply “GO”.

Honestly, I think that is why the song lands because motivation can get exhausting when it is constantly asking us to optimise ourselves. ‘GO해‘ does not really care about absolute optimism; it just wants movement. It wants you to give your laziness a spanking and get on with it, and sometimes that is exactly the motivation we need.
