Why Did Stacy Not Want Lydia to Come to Her Bat Mitzvah?

Stacy had been planning her Bat Mitzvah for a long time and Lydia was a must-have for the occasion. The two girls had grown up together but right before the special day, an incident occurred wherein Stacy became the butt of jokes and she spotted Lydia laughing along with others. This was the first. Then she spotted Lydia and Andy Goldfarb, the guy Lydia knew very well that Stacy had a crush on, kissing at a house party hosted by Lydia. This did it for Stacy who cut off Lydia’s name from her Bat Mitzvah invitation list.

What Made Lydia Cut Off Stacy?

Before answering the question, it’s important to clarify that it was Andy who kissed Lydia as per Lydia. But then why did she give in? Did she want to kiss him too? Maybe. Either way, Stacy had seen all that she needed to and went on to spread negative stuff about Lydia on their school’s social media page and even made a video of Lydia where she is talking about personal stuff, stuff that she only shared with Stacy and that no one else is supposed to know or see.

And even though she didn’t post the video anywhere because she thought that it be too much, it did end up being played at Lydia’s Bat Mitzvah when Stacy’s mother sent it to Lydia’s mother from Stacy’s laptop without knowing what it contained. As a result, Lydia is ridiculed in front of all the guests on her special night which had been ruined in the worst manner. This seemed to have brought the friendship, or the little of it that still remained, between the two girls to an end.

What happened on Lydia’s Bat Mitzvah took a toll on not just Lydia but Stacy too. She didn’t want it to happen or at least not like this. But then what else did she plan to do with the video? After all, this was her intention, wasn’t it? To mock Lydia in front of everyone?

Be that as it may, Lydia didn’t expect Stacy to do this to her, especially after knowing that she wasn’t with Andy Goldfarb anymore. What Lydia went through was not justified because she was the one who tried to get back to Stacy time and again without any reply from the latter. The video was the final nail in the coffin of their friendship. Or so it seemed.

How Did Stacy Make Up to Lydia?

Reality hit Stacy on the day she was to read the sermons at a church to be ushered into womanhood. Before she read her sermons, she accepted her faults in front of her friends, although Lydia wasn’t there, and made herself clear about how foolish and selfish she had been all the while which made her lose her best friend. She then went and asked Lydia to come to her Bat Mitzvah.

She finally made up to Lydia by organizing a “perfect” Bat Mitzvah for her where all their friends were present and they forgave each other without saying so. After all, you don’t say “I forgive you” to your best friend, right? You just forgive them.
