Does Eun-sae Regain Her Memories?

Yes, Eun-sae does regain her memories by the end. For a large chunk of the runtime, the series wonders whether Eun-sae will ever remember her past and how that will work out for her. While the romance is the central part of the show, we slowly see Eun-sae taking steps to remember who she was in the past. She even travels to Seoul for answers. However, everything hits her when she is being taken away by Tae-ha’s brother, Kaito, and she sees an explosion and remembers everything. It hits her hard, and she immediately rushes away from them to go back to Seoul.

Once there, she starts to take steps to stop Sang-gil legally and collects the evidence that had initially resulted in her losing her memories. Thankfully, her plan works, but it also comes at a personal cost.

Why Did Tae-ha Pretend to Be Eun-sae’s Boyfriend?

From the get-go, we see Tae-ha declare himself as Eun-sae’s boyfriend and take responsibility for her well-being. Realising that she was in grave danger and desperate to save her from Sang-gil, she lies to protect her. Moreover, they also have a past connection, wherein he had a crush on her in school, so all of these situations together resulted in him taking responsibility for her. Without him, Sang-gil could’ve found her again and, this time, she wouldn’t have had Tae-ha to protect her. It worked in her favour that Tae-ha worked for Sang-gil and immediately recognised her. Otherwise, it would’ve ended much worse for her!

Tae-ha’s Past Finally Explains Everything

Tae-ha’s past connects everything together. While his mother was a kind-hearted woman who loved and cherished him, his father’s identity had been shrouded in mystery. We finally learn that Sang-gil is his father. He used to learn boxing from Do-yeop when he was younger but was thrown out when he decided to cheat to make money. He was eventually recruited by the gang where he made his money. In the midst of it, he was dating Tae-ha’s mother and got her pregnant, but refused to take responsibility for him thanks to his own past trauma.

The story comes full circle when Tae-ha, too, ended up working for him. In the last face-off, Sang-gil decided to do right by his son and, without telling him the truth, took his own life instead of continuing on a destructive path. Tae-ha and Sang-gil’s backstories add a lot of context to the story, highlighting how, often, bad deeds repeat themselves through generations unless we decide to break the cycle.

At the end of a rather tough fight, Tae-ha and Eun-sae finally tie the knot and have a dreamy wedding in the village. It’s small and intimate, with all of their friends and family present. At the end, we also see An Gi-jun proposing to Min Su-ji as well, a situation that gets resolved thanks to Eun-sae and Tae-ha indirectly.

Our Sticky Love symbolises how love can survive unprecedented dangers and shocking truths. While Tae-ha is terrified of Eun-sae getting her memories back and losing her all over again, we see that the experience has changed Eun-sae such that she is empathetic to his situation and decisions. While not great, he did what he did, including sacrificing himself, to protect her and save her from harm. The series also highlights that people shouldn’t just be defined by their worst decisions, as sometimes, there’s a much deeper story behind it. While Tae-ha’s past in the gang is terrible, the story behind it is tragic as well. It’s not all black and white – life is often mostly grey.
