Yakuza Fiancé Episode 8 Recap

Yakuza Fiancé Episode 9 Review

Yoshino uncovers that Ozu is after them because he’s aiding Shiori’s associates—enemies the duo has clashed with before. Following this revelation, Yoshino firmly instructs Kirishima to follow her lead, but his rebellious nature makes him resistant to comply.

Kirishima’s first move after his conversation with Yoshino is to call Shoma and deceive him, claiming that Yoshino is hiding in a karaoke bar where he supposedly left her. Shoma, enraged, threatens to kill Kirishima if anything happens to Yoshino, to which Kirishima retorts that he’d also wish Shoma dead. Meanwhile, another unknown faction is revealed to be working alongside the goons hunting Kirishima and Yoshino.

Yoshino is clueless about this third party until she mentions a red-haired man to Kirishima, whose demeanour shifts dramatically, signalling that this new figure poses a serious threat. Additionally, another character, Suo Azami, emerges, exuding a dangerous aura. Their motives for targeting Yoshino and Kirishima—and their collaboration with the petty criminals—remain a mystery even to Ozu.

The latter half of the episode takes an intriguing turn, focusing on the evolving bond between Kirishima and Yoshino. Kirishima makes a bold declaration that no one else is worthy of marrying Yoshino, claiming he’s the only one who truly deserves her. His feelings, rooted in admiration for Yoshino’s calculated ruthlessness when necessary, reveal just how deeply he loves her.

The situation is very tense as we see Kirishima being hunted relentlessly by his enemies. However, instead of being scared, he is playing with their minds by feeding them information bit by bit and evading them every time. Because he is alone, he plans to handle his assailants sneakily and even manages to trap them in a public space.

On the other hand, Yoshino finds herself at a spot where she comes to understand the motives behind Ozu teaming himself with Shiori’s goons. Apparently, this was all orchestrated by Azami, the mysterious man, who might not be a yakuza but is a dangerous man nonetheless. Even Ozu does not know what Azami does and how he can wipe out entire gangs without leaving any information about himself behind.

If everything had gone well, Yoshino would have remained unscathed, however, that was not the case as she too gets involved in this mess. Not only that, no one was there to help her out, and hence, she had to fight against one of the gang leaders and fend for herself. This part was absolutely thrilling as we see she really is not a damsel in distress who waits for Prince Charming to save her.

But the highlight of this episode is definitely the appearance of Azami, in front of Kirishima. He nonchalantly asks him about Yoshino’s whereabouts, indicating that all this time, his main target has been Yoshino and not Kirishima. This fact escalates the situation further, and a messy brawl takes place between these two where, for the very first time, Kirishima is not the strongest one.

Verdict

Yakuza Fiancé Episode 9 Review

Today’s episode was again fight-heavy and entertaining to boot. More mystery unravel in front of us, and it is clear that Yoshino’s life is at risk. Something big is going to happen, and an impending turf war might take place soon, dragging our protagonists in it. But one thing is for sure, Kirishima will not let anything happen to Yoshino.

I really suggest you watch this anime if you like romance, with a healthy dose of action and mystery.
