Yakuza Fiancé Episode 10 Recap

Yoshino and Kirishima work together to expose Ozu’s manipulative nature, highlighting how he uses women as pawns to carry out his schemes. He had even resorted to blackmailing Nao to turn her against Kirishima. While Ozu meticulously erased evidence of his actions to avoid consequences, his strategy backfired this time. Kirishima orchestrated his downfall by having someone seduce Ozu’s influential mother, a move that, combined with other factors, sealed Ozu’s fate. It becomes evident that Ozu is no longer a threat to Yoshino or anyone else.

The episode also showcases Yoshino’s exceptional intelligence and sharp instincts. Despite her lack of interest in the Yakuza world, she demonstrates her resourcefulness by independently tracking Kirishima and uncovering information even he overlooked. Yoshino’s quick thinking also plays a crucial role as she deliberately distracts Ozu, causing his plans to unravel.

Her cleverness even leaves Kirishima impressed, earning his acknowledgement of her capabilities. However, darker developments loom on the horizon. The prospect of a Yakuza turf war becomes more imminent, and it seems inevitable that Yoshino and Kirishima will be drawn into the chaos. Shoma appears particularly unsettled by this, possibly hinting at his determination to shield Yoshino from the dangers ahead.

Additionally, the episode delves into Kirishima and Nao’s dynamic, revealing that Kirishima has been using Nao as a means to ensure Yoshino’s safety. He nonchalantly declares that he could even sleep with a stranger if it meant protecting Yoshino, implying that Nao holds no emotional significance for him.

Things have officially calmed down with Kirishima, and now he can genuinely spend quality time with Yoshino. This episode opens with the entire Somei family gathering together and paying respects to Yoshino’s father, who died at a very young age. Apparently, he was more of a cowardly man and was not involved in the Yakuza. However, there’s still some mystery around his death that we might know more about later in the series.

But even if things look normal on the surface, and Yoshino might think she has successfully evaded problems with her grandfather not knowing about their little stunt, it’s not that simple. Here, we see how deadly the happy-go-lucky man, whom we have known as Yoshino’s grandfather, can be when it comes to the safety of his family. He has entrusted Yoshino’s protection to Kirishima, and he expects him to deliver on that promise.

However, the most important change is happening with the dynamic shared between Kirishima and Shoma. It is becoming apparent that Shoma does not like Yoshino’s still being with Kirishima. And his reaction towards them becomes more explosive when Kirishima knowingly seeks him out to let him know that he has started dating her. Not only that, but they also have a pretty intense fistfight, which only gets stopped after Yoshino involves herself.

In this episode, we also see an interesting aspect of Yoshino’s bond with Shoma. At this point, she clearly favours Shoma more than Kirishima, but it is confusing to label it as entirely romantic or platonic. She is comfortable enough to have a conversation about living together in the future with him, but at the same time, it doesn’t seem like she has any intimate feelings towards Shoma.

Verdict

Yakuza Fiancé Episode 11 Review

As a manga reader, I know that there is a high chance the end game will be Kirishima, and the reason behind it is something that I will leave out. However, it will be interesting to see how good a second lead can become and give Kirishima tough competition in the future.
