Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 6 Recap

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 7 Review Will, The Lone Sword

The episode kicks off with the intense clash between Will and Sion, and things aren’t looking promising for our hero. We also get a glimpse into their past, showing a time when Sion’s attitude toward Will was drastically different. Initially, Sion wasn’t as hostile or determined to eliminate Will as he is now.

It’s revealed that Sion actually disliked seeing others ridicule Will. He wanted Will to join his faction and become his ally, believing it would protect him from further harassment. However, Will rejected this path, fueling Sion’s resentment. On top of that, Will’s indifference towards anyone at the institution, coupled with his fixation on climbing the tower to reach Elfaria, deepened the divide between them.

During the tournament, Sion overwhelms Will with an immense display of magic. Meanwhile, Colette struggles to hold her ground against Julius. Unfortunately, this level of magic wasn’t what the tournament spectators, who came seeking new talent, had anticipated. Still, one thing becomes clear—Sion’s mastery of fire magic is far beyond that of a typical student.

The battle between Will and Sion reaches a dramatic peak when Sion finally reveals his true feelings. He admits how hurt he’s been by Will’s constant disregard, frustrated that he was ignored despite his attempts to reach out. It becomes evident that Will, believing no one would ever accept him, isolated himself and focused solely on his goal.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 7 Review Will, The Lone Sword

At first, we see Elfaria being awakened by her aid and informed about a new talent, Julius, who will be perfect as her successor. However, she swiftly claims that she doesn’t need a successor but only a lone sword.

Back in the arena, Will is visibly struggling against Julius and his many doppelgangers, who can also use magic. They are not shadows but rather fully functional copies of Julius, who can inflict the same amount of damage as the original version. This magic is very close to Will as it is one of the 12 spells that Elfaria invented herself.

After using this, Julia starts to badmouth Elfaria about how he is swiftly able to copy magic that someone of Elfaria’s stature created. This must mean that she is not that talented enough and Julius is just too broken.  Hearing this, Will goes into a fit of rage, but he quickly gets stopped by the absolutely brutal nature of Julius’s magic.

However, this definitely did not end like this as Will quickly rises from his battered condition and finally cools his head down. He announces how flawed Julius’ version of Elfaria’s magic is. Julius also gets exposed as he cannot actually control this spell very well and must utilise the power of his friends to keep the doppelgangers. Not only that, Will also lets him know that this is a spell that Elfaria came up with when she was only two years old, so he should not compare himself to someone so talented.

The aftermath of the battle is something that you should witness for yourself.

Verdict

Today’s episode was again entertaining as we see Will rise from being a loser to someone who can stand on par with Julius. He also proved that you do not need magic to be considered powerful. But it is still not clear whether he will be allowed to graduate or not as, towards the end, some things happened. The animation, as usual, was breathtaking.
