Elena Knows Plot
In the film adaptation of Claudia Piñeiro’s novel, the story unfurls with Elena Alonso, who grapples with Parkinson’s disease, receiving the devastating news of her daughter Rita’s sudden passing. When the police escort Elena to identify Rita’s body, it shatters the strong bond they share. Rita had been caring for Elena due to her illness, intensifying their connection. However, faced with the sight of her daughter’s lifeless form, Elena refuses to accept the police’s conclusion of suicide. She becomes determined to uncover the truth behind Rita’s demise, harbouring suspicions about Father Juan, the last person known to have seen Rita alive.
Frustrated by the lack of satisfactory answers, Elena embarks on an investigation herself, despite her advancing Parkinson’s. Her journey takes her from the suburbs to the Capital via train, seeking aid from an old friend of Rita’s.
