In Ego’s hands now, Quill is nothing less than a storm, out and about to make his father’s vision of remaking the universe as his own.

Project Pegasus head, Peggy Carter is out to get the little boy who is one powerful being, wreaking havoc. And guess who is in discussion with her to solve this cosmic problem Earth has been cursed with? None other than our very own Howard Stark! And to end the team with a cherry on the top is Dr. Wendy Lawson from the Kree Starforce. That surely is a team of the good ‘ol times.

The team tries to stop little Quill from disrupting everything but, a series of events leads them to decide to retreat. However, when they are ready to fly away, Quill stops the ship with his cosmic power. This moment is when the Thunder Lord, Thor enters the scene. His powers end up knocking Quill unconscious.

After capturing Quill in a chamber in the SHIELD facility, Thor reveals to everyone that Quill has been planting celestial seedlings on the planet, consuming them and destroying them in the process for Ego’s vision. The only planet left now is Earth. The singular way to get rid of the seedling is to destroy it and only a being of celestial origin can do that.

Meanwhile, we see Hope loiter through the facility using her father’s identity card, listening to her mother’s favourite music on the Walkman. She tumbles across Quill in the detainment facility and gets to know his side of the story- his father is the one behind making him do all the bad stuff whereas he is just a boy who wants to go to his home in Mossouri. Hope using the Pym particles to rescue Peter and send him off. As a farewell gift, she also hands over her walkman.

When the team discovers what has happened, they are distorted and everyone wants to deal with the situation in their own way. Hope reveals to them Peter’s story and asks her father to promise to get to him and help him, instead of punishing or killing him.

We see Peter on his way to Missouri, listening to music on the Walkman. As Ego tries to talk to him, he increases the sound of the music, severing the connection. Ego decides to give Earth a visit and finish the work of planting the seedlings on his own. We see Foster, Thor and T’Chaka with Cater and her army ready to take on Ego. On the other hand, Lawson and Hank find Peter in front of his mother’s grave.

While one part of the team fights Ego, Hank tries to talk to Peter. Unknown to them, we have the Winter Solider on the loose, ready to kill the young boy. As Hank tries to show Peter the right path, so does Howard to Bucky (in Captain America’s name, nonetheless)! Finally, Peter stands up against his father and gets to know how he is responsible for his mother’s death. He ends up killing his father and claiming his title as Star-Lord.

What If Season 2 Episode 2 ends with a celebratory dinner at Hank’s place where we see Peter playing with Hope. They get Goose as a cat from Lawson and, the news is that Bucky might just be back in some sense with his Winter Solider alias. The heroes are also all set to join Thor in his search to avenge everything that Ego had destroyed, giving us an adorable and heartwarming team of new superheroes.
