In the last episode of this Thai drama, Maewnam and Wan take their relationship to the next level, but decide not to label it just yet. Meanwhile, a new colleague in Maewnam’s college turns out to be a sore spot for Chom and Tonnam, although Mahnmook takes a special liking to Maewnam.

Whale Store XOXO Episode 5 Recap
The episode opens with Maewnam opening up to Tonnam and Chom about the predicament surrounding her family business clashing with Wan’s. They try to figure out how to break the news to Wan, and, funnily enough, they decide to perform a SWOT analysis. Meanwhile, Wan checks out how far along the construction of Mouse Mart is and is left distraught when she learns that by the end of the month, she’s about to have serious competition.
However, that’s not the worst part. Noey tells Wan that she’s in serious debt, and the number leaves Wan even more distraught! Thus, when Maewnam arrives and listens to her ordeal, she is unable to open up about her part in Mouse Mart. Elsewhere, Tonnam is also going through a rough time because Chom seems to be at Mahnmook’s beck and call. Their relationship is strained, especially because Chom refuses to tell a soul about Tonnam but is starting to get close to Mahnmook.
Later, as Wan and Maewnam get even more cosied up, the professors go out for a meal together, and Chom and Tonnam get into a very heated, very personal argument in the restaurant. Later, Maewnam meets Wan and brings Mahnmook with her. Wan is immediately wary of her, and after some initial confusion, Wan tells Maewnam that Mahnmook is an old friend. The two have a spat, and Wan comes back and asks Maewnam why she didn’t tell her that her family owns Mouse Mart.
The cat’s finally out of the bag, much to Maewnam’s chagrin. She immediately cuts Maewnam off, leaving her standing alone in the street. With all the relationships breaking down, Maewnam continues to reach out to Wan in hopes that she will forgive her… or call her when something breaks down. She’s about to call Maewnam when Louise suddenly arrives. He fixes her tap, making her thoroughly happy. Meanwhile, Maewnam asks Mahnmook whether she told Wan the truth about her family and she seems genuinely surprised that Wan didn’t know already.
She shares that not telling Wan anything is a recipe for disaster since she doesn’t take these things well. Her level of knowledge makes Maewnam question their relationship, and Mahnmook confesses that they are not just friends. Elsewhere, Chompoo apologises to Tonnam for her behaviour, and the latter, too, gives her some grace, and they finally make up. That night, for some reason, Louise arrives and gives Wan flowers, and when she rejects them, he starts to assault her, claiming that she led her on. Maewnam arrives out of the blue and saves Wan, and then he runs off like a rat.
The two have a frank conversation about Wan’s relationship with Mahnmook as well as about Mouse Mart. With the air finally clear, the two make up, and Wan gives Maewnam a full score! It’s a sweet moment, especially when Wan says that when two people like each other, things don’t have to be so complicated. After that, she asks Maewnam to be her girlfriend. And with that, the two share a passionate kiss!
Whale Store XOXO Episode 5 Review
Whale Store XOXO Episode 5 is equal measures sweet and frustrating. Sweet because Maewnam and Wan have the sweetest, most compassionate relationship I have seen in a drama in a long time. Both of these characters are so inherently good that it’s hard to dislike them at any point because you know they will solve these issues easily and soon. Both Wan and Maewnam and adorable yet mature, and you can’t help but love them thoroughly.
However, the frustrating part of the drama is Chompoo and Tonnam’s relationship, especially how Chom treats her. This episode, especially, has gotten on my nerves, for that matter, but thankfully, we have a green flag relationship to mask the disappointment! Next week’s highlights showcase Chom putting in more effort into the relationship, so I am hoping for things to improve. Otherwise, I might just rebel!
