Welcome to Samdal-ri Episode 13 Recap

Sang-tae walks in on Yong-pil and Sam-dal spending time together and questions the latter why she came back here after he begged her to leave his son and their town. Listening to this, Yong-pil realises that it was because of his father that Sam-dal broke up with him eight years ago.

He then pulls the crying Sam-dal out and questions her to which she reveals that what he thinks is indeed the truth. She saw how destroyed Sang-tae was back then and didn’t want Yong-pil to lose his father after he lost his mother. Sam-dal then tells him that she had almost let go of everything but seeing Sang-tae today has reminded her of everything that happened and cannot ignore him.

She has tried to get over Yong-pil by dating many people in the past, but every time she would think about Yong-pil and break up with them. Now, she has decided to stay in a one-sided love with Yong-pil, without any wish to have her feelings reciprocated. She agrees to live alone for all her life but she cannot be with him.

With this, she leaves only for Yong-pil to follow her and tell her that he does not agree with this one-sided love which they both feel for each other. He has already let go of her once in the past and will not repeat it, instead, he will make sure to be with Sam-dal no matter what happens.

Yong-pil leaves and Sam-dal goes into her room; her mother soon follows and answers her previous question. She tells Sam-dal that she can love Yong-pil with all her heart and no one will stop her anymore, so she should just follow her heart. With this, Sam-dal tries to not break apart as she knows that if she loves Yong-pil again then she will never let go of him again.

Elsewhere, Ji-chan is dropping Hae-dal and Ha-yul home; the two talk about Hae-dal’s past. Like this, they soon reach home and Ji-chan makes it clear that he didn’t think of the mother-daughter duo as weird but as something interesting for the two would behave like sisters, friends and mother-daughter.

His attitude towards the two makes Hae-dal smile as he leaves. The next day, Mi-ja is off to send some side dishes for Sang-tae when she comes across Yong-pil who is back home. He takes the box from her hand to take it inside while Mi-ja tells him to not let go of Sam-dal this time as she is ready to take all of Sang-tae’s hatred to herself.

She wishes him luck while Yong-pil goes inside and begins cleaning up after seeing his father sprawled on the floor after a night of drinking. Soon, Sang-tae wakes up to see him and asks if he is here to cut ties with him or has come after cutting ties with Sam-dal. Yong-pil denies both possibilities and tells him that he is here to anger him.

He has decided to let Sang-tae know that he isn’t the only one grieving for the person they lost, and he will now anger Sang-tae every single day by sharing the pain that he feels each day. Elsewhere, Sam-dal gets herself off the bed and focuses on the project that she has on hand.

She calls her assistant Eun-bi in Seoul and asks her to send some items from her previous exhibitions. She gets ready for work, meanwhile, Mi-ja finds out that Jin-dal has voted ‘yes’ for the theme park on behalf of their family and that the majority has voted in favour of the theme park as well.

This fills her up with anger and she rushes to Jin-dal and gives her a good beating which is interfered with by Dae-young. Seeing this, Mi-ja takes them home and questions her daughters, only to be told that they wouldn’t take this step if she gave up on diving. Mi-ja then tells them that they never asked for her opinion when making decisions in their lives so they too don’t have the right to stop her.

She then tries to walk away only to be stopped by Hyul who tells her that she fears she will lose Mi-ja like the latter lost her friend to the sea. On the other hand, Sam-dal makes her way to the weather department and hands over the idea she has for the exhibition’s theme. She tries to avoid running into Yong-pil the whole time.

Later, she comes across Sang-do on her way back and the latter indirectly asks her if she has a chance to pursue a love where he has no hopes of being loved back. Listening to this, Sam-dal advises him to not confess to the girl he likes, unaware that it is herself and that she has crushed all his hopes.

The next day, Yong-pil is adamant in infuriating Sang-tae with his little deeds and the latter cannot stop thinking about everything. Later, he gets a call from the Samdal-ri exhibition and makes his way to the place where he sees the iconic picture of the two Mi-jas. He sees Yong-pil there and tells him that he will never forget what happened eight years back.

He tells him that everyone has forgotten what happened back then and he doesn’t want to be added to the list as he believes that he is the last person who keeps the pain inside him. On the other hand, Sam-dal finds out that Yong-pil broke up with her when he found out about Mi-ja’s disease and not because of his father.

Later, Yong-pil checks Sam-dal’s theme proposal and is impressed; but he soon finds out that Sam-dal has gone to a location where high tides are going to hit very soon. He rushes to find her while Sam-dal, unaware of all this, continues down her road.

On the other hand, Sang-tae’s mother walks off on her own and gets everyone worried for her. Mi-ja too begins looking for her and finds her, but soon the old lady begins hitting her for having killed her daughter-in-law. Sang-tae sees this while Mi-ja just stands still and takes in all the beating without blinking.

Later, she tells Sang-tae to direct his anger onto her and give his blessings to Sam-dal and Yong-pil. She adds that she believes Bu Mi-ja wouldn’t have wanted to see her son sad because of what happened and leaves from there. However, Sang-tae is infuriated now and rushes behind her into her yard and starts breaking everything.

Welcome to Samdal-ri Episode 13 Ending

As he shows his anger and pain, Mi-ja no longer stays quiet and tells him that he isn’t the only one feeling pain for all these years. She tells him that she too lost a friend that day and has been in pain all these years. As she lets out her pain in front of him, Sang-tae stands there frozen.

Meanwhile, Sam-dal is busy clicking pictures when she gets the material she had Eun-bi to send to her. Along with this, she finds notes left behind by those who visit her exhibitions. Among the notes she finds one that is too familiar to her; it is a note by Yong-pil that says, “Love but do it in Silence” which brings back memories to Sam-dal.

She also sees that Yong-pil is the only one who signed her last guestbook which was from the exhibition that got cancelled. She finally knows that Yong-pil has always been there even when she tried to keep herself away from him. Right then, she sees Yong-pil rushing to her and pulling her out of the little island that has formed due to the high tide.

However, she stops him midway as she can no longer hold back her love for him. She gives him a back hug with tears in her eyes and love in her heart.

Welcome to Samdal-ri Episode 13 Review

The pain one feels makes one forget the pain of those who feel the same pain, but today Sang-tae got a glimpse of the fact that he isn’t the only one in pain. This episode has begun the untangling of emotions and anger within Sang-tae which is important for our lovebirds to get a happy ending.

The writers have surely hit us with a tissue-worthy episode and the actors have made sure to keep us crying until the end of the episode. This is the perfect blend of plot and performance that we have been witnessing until now. The show has made sure to keep us hooked and satisfied while also leaving us handing and eager for more episodes.

Altogether, this was yet another beautiful episode and as we come to an end, I hope for some heart-warming scene for the couple and also Sang-do.
