Welcome to Chippendales Premiere Review

Welcome to Chippendales premiered on Hulu with its first two episodes and the one thing that is sure to pop up in everyone’s minds as the opening scene rolls out is that this show has the potential to be an interesting and engaging ride.

First, off the bat, we are introduced to our protagonist, who is based on a real-life person- Somen Steve Banerjee, living in a foreign country with a skin colour and accent that is sure to get humiliated at every nook and corner which is how the series exactly starts. We are introduced to Steve’s work life which is basically working at a gas station but, his business mind has aided the profits at the station which leads the owner to ask him to as a general manager, a promotion that Steve would have been happy about years ago in his life.

But as a changed man with enough savings to start a brand new and unique venture, Steve decides to leave his job, get a place and start a backgammon club. With a dull four and a half months runtime, Steve encounters the charismatic duo Paul and Dorothy who open the gates of something truly exciting and game-changing for his business and life.

However, not everything is rosy at the start as the three of them face ups and downs to find something appropriate and attractive which gives rise to the idea that puts women’s pleasure at the front row and finally brings them on a trajectory where success is always quick to visit. The first two episodes of Welcome to Chippendales are dedicated to the Chippendales club- it’s birth and rise, along with the entry of Nick De Noia which brings unprecedented trouble in Steve’s life.

Welcome to Chippendales Premiere Ending Explained

Welcome to Chippendales Episode 2 is where the final moments of the series premiere rest. Throughout the first two episodes, we see that Steve’s ambition to get Chippendales to a recognizable platform makes him comply with everything the idea he can see is working or thinks will work. Especially in regards to Nick, he is way too free and accepting of all his orders. But, it is in the ending moments of the second episode where the line of tension is drawn.

After Denise introduces and demonstrates to Nick the concept of breakaway pants, Nick is thrilled to bring her on board. But, Steve is not thrilled with Nick’s idea and for the first time, we see how Steve’s compliance towards Nick is going away. Irrespective of Irene’s convincing Steve through logistics to hire Denise, the stare-down between the star choreographer and the owner is unmissable and definitely hints towards the start of something new and, possibly ugly.

Welcome to Chippendales Episode 1 and 2: Final Thoughts

From the first episode, Welcome to Chippendales never shies away from the true story it is trying to tell- a man’s strive for glory and elegance, the greed for money and power and, most importantly, being known, and even, remembered maybe. With amazing performances by Kumail Nanjiani and Murray Bartlett stealing the show in the first two episodes, the promises made by the episodes of being something extremely enjoyable felt almost dangerous.
