Welcome to Chippendales Episode 4: Just Business

In the last episode of Welcome to Chippendales, we saw how Somen and Nick were ready to part ways after a heated argument. The fourth episode focuses on the aftermath and what happens to both on their individual courses.

The calendar shoot with Ray is a hot hit for Somen’s club and they fly off the shelves faster than expected. As he has full control of his business with Nick away, Somen makes hasty decisions, all of which are not really relevant and appreciated by Irene as well as Otis. In fact, in Welcome to Chippendales Episode 4, we see how projection and racism work hand in hand.

We see Somen being racist towards Otis on multiple occasions which ultimately costs him one helluva dancer. But, Somen should really be the last person doing so, as we clearly see in this episode how he constantly is a target of racism irrespective of his money and fame. The cycle from Somen trying to get a place at Palisades continues to men of colour trying to enter or even stay at Chippendales, creating the truthful and harsh allegory of racism in our everyday lives.

As for Nick, we already know that the man has a vision but, also a knack for greed. When these two are put together as he finds a new lover in New York named Bradford, who is extremely rich, Nick’s vision finally takes flight. But, this vision’s core lies at Chippendales and when Nick tries to crack up a business offer with Somen, things don’t fall in place with their two booming egos being unable to get an alignment that might benefit them both.

Welcome to Chippendales Episode 4, however, puts the women- Irene and Denise on the sidelines it feels. In the previous episodes, we saw how they had their foot somewhere in the show but, in the latest episode, they are reduced to angry, overwhelming characters as the men do most of the thematic talking and representations.

Welcome to Chippendales Episode 4: Final Thoughts

Welcome to Chippendales is slowly becoming a power game between the two main characters- Somen and Nick. Both are extremely talented men and one can already put their bet on how the growth of the club would be tenfold if the two work together. But, alas, the egocentric nature of both the characters makes them look like crabs in a bowl trying to get to the top but, only by pulling the other down.

The themes of pride, success, fame, and racism are getting stronger with each passing episode as the characters are getting hungrier and angrier with time. An impending doom is knocking around the corner as the bullet of ‘I could kill him’ has already been released in this episode.
